About me
Admitting to myself that I needed support with my mental health took alot of courage, however the relief I felt when I could finally tell someone what it was really like to be me and talk openly about my life experiences in a trusted relationship with my therapist was life changing. I just wish I'd had the courage to do it sooner! I totally understand that putting yourself out there and starting therapy can seem scary and overwhelming.
The truth is therapy is not an easy option. Therapy does require you to put in effort and it is possible you may feel worse before you feel better. What is also true is that therapy can change your life; your relationships with others and yourself; your quality of life - to free you to be able to live the life you truly want with real intention and purpose.
I truly believe therapy is a gift we can give to ourselves. Be brave and take that first step. I believe in you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold degrees in Molecular Biology (BSc Hons) and Counselling (FdA) and I am a Member of the BACP (MBACP). I combine my understanding about the human body with counselling theory and skills to create a bespoke therapeutic experience for each individual client.
I have experience working with different types of charities, where I supported people experiencing bereavement and loss, as well as economic deprivation and hardship. I also have experience working for a company which supports clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem and body image and currently work in private practice with face-to-face premises in Redcar and Guisborough areas.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
