About me

Counselling can be a great way to learn about our behaviours, thoughts and feelings. It helps us to understand and move forward. My approach is built on the belief that we all have the ability to change and overcome the things that are making us unhappy.

  • Do you feel like things that happened in the past impact how you feel and act now?
  • Do you get the feeling that something isn’t quite right but don’t know what?
  • Do you the feel like you dislike more and more things about yourself?
  • Do you feel your anxiety is holding you back?
  • Do you feel you just want someone to talk to?

Whether it’s a sense that you’re just not happy or you have something specific you want to talk about, counselling can offer support with a number of things.

There are lots of different types of counselling. I work in a person-led, integrated way, which means I use a number of different trainings to inform our work together. This allows me to offer a tailored approach to our sessions. Sometimes we may talk about how you feel in the here and now, or about past experiences.

My role is to find what works best for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Humanistic Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am also a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and therefore work within their ethical and professional framework.

I particularly enjoy working with individuals that feel anxious, low in self-esteem and with people who identify as LGBTQ+. As well as private practice, I work for a local charity as an LGBTQ+ specialist therapist support those who have experienced domestic abuse.

What happens next?

Making the decision to start counselling may feel a bit anxiety provoking, but I aim to keep the process as simple as possible.

Get in touch for more information or to book your first session. I also offer a free, online 20 minute introductory session, which provides the chance to meet and answer any questions you may have.

During our first session, we can chat about what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain. You'll then be able to book in further sessions or take some time to think about whether counselling with me, is right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
