About me

Many people struggle with the challenges of life and their own lived experience. For some this can be overwhelming and lonely to manage, and can lead to depression, anxiety or health issues.  I offer you a safe space to explore any issues you are struggling with. In confidence and with compassion I will listen to you without judgement, and together we will explore a way forward. I am an experienced and qualified psychotherapeutic Counsellor, and registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work integratively using a range of therapeutic approaches, and primarily my focus is person-centred. I help my clients explore, unlock and discover themselves beyond their lived experience, and help them to find inner peace for a happier life.

I offer a comfortable and confidential listening space in my home in Wallington. I also offer outdoor sessions in my local park for those clients needing to walk and talk. This can be particularly beneficial for people having experienced trauma and are suffering with symptoms related to that. I can offer a mixture of both if that is required.

For some clients, talking can be difficult at first and they can struggle to express thoughts and feelings in the beginning. I use a variety of techniques including mindfulness, breathwork and meditation to help those clients settle into the session. I also teach these techniques to help clients ground themselves in times of distress or anxiety outside of the therapy room.

It is important that you feel comfortable with me as your Counsellor and I offer you a free 20 minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs and my availability, and for you to feel comfortable before meeting with me.

Each session will last 60 minutes.

During your first session we will explore what brings you to therapy and establish how long you want to work with me. I take notes in this first session, and in subsequent sessions I make notes afterwards. These are brief and all notes are kept confidential and stored in a locked cabinet. I recommend sessions to be weekly at first and depending upon how long we work together this could reduce to fortnightly. We can discuss this during our first session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over twenty years experience of working with young people and adults, and I am a qualified Counsellor in the humanistic Person-Centred approach, registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
