About me

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor, working with adults and young people aged 12yrs and over. I work with issues such as, but not limited to, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, feeling sad, panic attacks and low self-esteem. I will help you to explore your feelings, beliefs and behaviours, increasing your self-awareness and helping you to make sense of your experiences. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, without judgement, no matter what you bring to the sessions, building a trusting relationship in which you can feel supported to disclose whatever is troubling you.

I work within my own private practice, offering 'face to face' counselling, online video sessions and telephone counselling. My service is not time-limited, and you can have as many or as few sessions as you feel is right for you, ensuring that you are in control of your counselling at all times. I am committed to offering a professional service, treating all clients with respect and without prejudice.

Previously, I have 15 years experience of working for the Ambulance Service, and have had the privilege of supporting people during some of life's most traumatic moments. This is what led me to becoming a counsellor and I am passionate about supporting my clients' mental health.

I regularly attend professional development courses to extend my knowledge and to ensure that I am working in the best way possible.

Since COVID my 'face to face' sessions have been suspended. I am still working online via Zoom and WhatsApp Video, or by telephone and I would be happy to discuss these options with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

Initially I offer a complimentary 15 minute chat to give us both the opportunity to meet and for you to decide if you would like to work with me, before investing any money.

If you would like to go ahead with sessions after our chat, the next step is to book an assessment, this lasts approximately 60 minutes and costs £55.

Following the assessment we will agree a suitable day/time for your counselling sessions, each session lasts 50 minutes and costs £50. There is sometimes an option to have longer sessions should you require them.

I am happy to offer weekly or fortnightly sessions, moving to monthly or ad hoc sessions as and when you feel that it is right for you. The number of sessions that you have is entirely up to you.

If you would like any further information or to arrange a chat please send me an email and I will contact you to arrange a suitable day/time.
