About me

Hello and Welcome to my profile.

I am Lindsay, a qualified, experienced counsellor.

I imagine that by reading this profile that perhaps life may have become quite uncomfortable for you and that for a variety of reasons you are looking to gain some understanding and support with what is happening for you.

Experiencing overwhelm, anxiety, depression, dealing with family issues, relationship struggles and breakdowns , betrayals, work stress or loss can all challenge the way we are living. The affects of living with these experiences may result in low energy, emotions we cannot explain and moods and thoughts we are not comfortable with. This may lead to feeling overwhelmed, unable to cope and feeling out of control. When anxiety feels out of control, panic attacks can often occur.

I often hear that during challenging times clients often feel that they lose who they are as a person, and would love to feel some sense of self again.

If this sounds familiar,  I am a counsellor who can offer you a confidential, warm and comfortable, down to earth, caring approach. Together, we can work at a pace that feels right for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, and try to make meaning of what is happening for you.

If you feel that now is the time for you to embark on exploring the way you are feeling, then please contact me by text, email or phone. You can be assured of a warm welcome.

Please check out the testimonials at the bottom of the page, given by past clients on how they found working with me, and their experience of counselling.

Below are some FAQ's.

How counselling can help

Counselling offers a professional, confidential space to share things maybe you have never shared before, with the knowledge you will not be judged and where you can be viewed unconditionally and genuinely.

Through being able to express yourself, and exploring together what is bothering you, we can make sense of your issues and learn to understand, trust and assert yourself in a way that feels right for you.

How quickly will you be seen

It can often take much courage to get in touch. I aim to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours of receiving them. I will endeavour if possible to book a initial meeting as soon as possible for both of us.

I work from my private counselling lounge in Worksop. I offer a warm, comfortable and peaceful place where you are able to take time, space, be heard, relax and share your thoughts and feelings.

What to expect

On receiving your contact details, I shall respond as soon as possible and arrange to have an initial telephone call. This will enable us to connect, you can tell me a little about what is happening and we can assess whether I am able to support you and if you feel comfortable working together. If we agree, then we will arrange a date and time for your first session.

Where I work

My counselling lounge is based in the town of Worksop.  There is ample free, secure parking, and offers disabled access. My Office is easily reached from Worksop,  Ollerton, Mansfield, Sheffield, Doncaster and surrounding areas.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

TESTIMONIALS

Lindsay was recommended to me when I hit a real low point in my life.  I was distraught and felt completely helpless and alone. My colleague who recommended Lindsay could not speak highly enough of the professional support that Lindsay had given her in the past and this put me at ease straight away.

I will never forget the first time that I met Lindsay.  I immediately felt comfortable with her.  Lindsay was welcoming, warm, caring and professional.  After spending my first hour with Lindsay I knew that I needed to continue seeing her.  In only a short space of time she had understood me and made me realise that I could get out of the black hole I was in.  She also made me realise that this wasn’t something I should be ashamed of.

I continued to see Lindsay every week for almost a year.  Throughout this period we had a variety of sessions.  On some occasions we would discuss the week that I had and any situations that I had found difficult to cope with.  On others we would concentrate on my childhood or major events that had happened in my life and how this had effected me.  During our sessions Lindsay would explain certain theories to me and this helped me to understand why I felt  the way that I did.  Over time and often without realising, I learnt how to manage my thoughts, how to be kind to myself and how to be mindful.

My sessions with Lindsay were extremely important to me throughout my recovery.  She helped me to stay focused, motivated me to keep going and praised me when I was doing well.  Having someone as professional as Lindsay to talk to about your most personal and private thought and feelings to was what made well.

It has now been 3 months since my last session and I am now a very different person.  The whole experience for me was life changing and I will always be grateful to Lindsay for helping me get to where I am now.
