About me

Hello, my name is Lindsay. I am a psychotherapist based in Liverpool city center. I provide safe and supportive in person and online therapy for children, adolescents, and adults who face various challenges in their lives.

Whether you’re struggling with your mental health, navigating difficult decisions or carrying the weight of past experiences, I am here to support you on your journey. I warmly welcome those who are seeking to understand themselves on a deeper level by exploring their thoughts, emotions and inner world.

Finding the right therapist is an important decision, and I encourage you to take your time in choosing someone who feels like the right fit for you.

Seeking therapy can be both daunting and personal, and it takes courage to open up and share your experiences, especially if you’ve been holding on to something for a long time.

Rest assured, I am here to support you every step of the way. Together, we can navigate the depths of your emotions, uncover new insights, and work towards a brighter, more fulfilling life.

Person-Centered Therapy

In Person-Centered therapy, the therapy room is a collaborative space where you, as the client, bring your wealth of knowledge about your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. However, it's common to feel overwhelmed or find it challenging to navigate these aspects alone. That's where I step in.

My commitment is to guide you through exploring and resolving the issues you may be facing. In our sessions, I provide support as you delve into potentially painful, secret, or shameful areas. My approach is one of openness, kindness, and respect towards your journey.

The ultimate goal of therapy varies for each individual. It may involve gaining clarity about your emotions, developing strategies to manage overwhelming feelings, or uncovering hidden strengths. Together, we can work towards your personal goals, considering your unique needs and desires. Your growth and well-being are central to our collaboration.

I aim for you to feel empowered and valued as an active participant in your healing. You're encouraged to express your thoughts, voice concerns, and share experiences openly. Our sessions offer a safe, non-judgmental space for exploration and growth.

Creative Approaches in Psychotherapy

In traditional talk therapy, we often engage the logical parts of our brains. However, this may limit our access to deeper emotional realms. Creative Approaches in Psychotherapy bridge this gap by tapping into the emotional regions of our brains. Through creative techniques, we can explore our inner worlds more deeply.

You don't need to be artistically inclined for this process to be effective. It's not about judging the quality of your creations; it's about using creative methods to unlock emotions and experiences. In our sessions, we'll explore your mind and body, providing a safe space for expression through drawing, mindfulness, movement, music, or other outlets.

Engaging in this creative journey can lead to fresh perspectives, deeper self-understanding, and new ways to approach life's challenges. It's about empowering you to see yourself differently and symbolize your inner world in ways that resonate with your unique journey.

Child Centered Creative Therapy

I have experience working with children in schools as a psychotherapist practicing Child Centered creative therapy. I worked with children who face a variety of presenting issues related to anxiety, emotion-based school avoidance, parental separation, ADHD, autism, domestic violence, bereavement, and emotional dysregulation (e.g., anger).

In my sessions with children, I have witnessed them gain confidence in themselves and in expressing their emotions verbally and through play. As a result of the sessions, I have received feedback from parents and teachers that they have experienced improved relationships with the children, and that the children are better able to understand, express and regulate emotions, and that the children are better able to integrate in a school environment.

Child-Centered therapy is a non-directive approach grounded in the belief that children possess an innate understanding of their own needs, facilitating their journey toward growth and healing. By offering children an open yet structured environment to explore themselves, this approach aims to cultivate self-autonomy and confidence in addressing their challenges. It acknowledges that children possess the capacity to navigate their healing and development, equipping them with tools for self-regulation and a growth mindset as they progress in life.

The therapeutic use of play combined with creative approaches is pivotal in this approach, as it enables children to experiment with various realities, process aspects of themselves and their experiences through creativity and imagination. Play, particularly when facilitated by a therapist, is integral to a child's development, allowing them to develop skills, explore different scenarios, and access emotions that may be difficult to express verbally.

In my role as a therapist, I provide guidance, reflect emotions, and establish boundaries which provides a framework to explore potential issues and offer safeguarding support. The aim is to create a safe, creative, and non-judgmental space where children can freely process their feelings.

Recognizing that children may struggle to articulate or comprehend their emotions due to their stage of cognitive development, this approach can be beneficial since it can allow children to access therapy in a way that is engaging and meets them where they are.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
