About me

Hello, my name is Lindsay. I am a psychotherapist based in Liverpool city center. I offer safe and supportive in-person and online therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.

I believe deeply in the potential for healing and growth. Throughout my work, I have seen how meaningful change can happen when someone feels heard, supported, and accepted just as they are. Therapy offers a unique space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most to us.

Many of the individuals who come to therapy with me are thoughtful, capable people who have learned to cope with difficult feelings by staying busy, striving for achievement, or focusing on logic and problem-solving. These strategies often help us function and succeed, but they can also leave us feeling distant from our inner emotional world. Over time, this disconnection may show up as a sense of emptiness, low mood, or a feeling that something important is missing.

In therapy, I support clients to explore and embrace their emotions in a way that feels safe and manageable. By working through painful feelings and past experiences, clients often find greater clarity, lightness, and a deeper sense of connection to themselves and others. I’ve seen people take meaningful steps toward healing, untangling the knots in their minds and bodies, and finding peace of mind, purpose, and more fulfilling relationships.

I offer a non-judgemental and creative therapeutic space for clients of all ages who may feel overwhelmed or disconnected from their emotions. Therapy is not always easy; it can involve facing difficult memories or parts of ourselves we’ve learned to avoid. But approached with care and curiosity, it can also be deeply transformative. My role is to help you work through what’s difficult and support you in moving forward with more clarity, emotional connection, and a sense of meaning in your life.

I look forward to supporting you on your journey to healing and growth.

Person-Centered Therapy

In Person-Centered therapy, the therapy room is a collaborative space where you, as the client, bring your wealth of knowledge about your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. However, it's common to feel overwhelmed or find it challenging to navigate these aspects alone. That's where I step in.

My commitment is to guide you through exploring and resolving the issues you may be facing. In our sessions, I provide support as you delve into potentially painful, secret, or shameful areas. My approach is one of openness, kindness, and respect towards your journey.

The ultimate goal of therapy varies for each individual. It may involve gaining clarity about your emotions, developing strategies to manage overwhelming feelings, or uncovering hidden strengths. Together, we can work towards your personal goals, considering your unique needs and desires. Your growth and well-being are central to our collaboration.

I aim for you to feel empowered and valued as an active participant in your healing. You're encouraged to express your thoughts, voice concerns, and share experiences openly. Our sessions offer a safe, non-judgmental space for exploration and growth.

Creative Approaches in Psychotherapy

In traditional talk therapy, we often engage the logical parts of our brains. However, this may limit our access to deeper emotional realms. Creative Approaches in Psychotherapy bridge this gap by tapping into the emotional regions of our brains. Through creative techniques, we can explore our inner worlds more deeply.

You don't need to be artistically inclined for this process to be effective. It's not about judging the quality of your creations; it's about using creative methods to unlock emotions and experiences. In our sessions, we'll explore your mind and body, providing a safe space for expression through drawing, mindfulness, movement, music, or other outlets.

Engaging in this creative journey can lead to fresh perspectives, deeper self-understanding, and new ways to approach life's challenges. It's about empowering you to see yourself differently and symbolize your inner world in ways that resonate with your unique journey.

Child Centered Creative Therapy

I have extensive experience working with children in schools as a psychotherapist, specializing in Child-Centered Creative Therapy. I support children facing anxiety, emotion-based school avoidance, parental separation, ADHD, autism, domestic violence, bereavement, and emotional dysregulation.

In my sessions, I have witnessed children gain confidence and express their emotions verbally and through play. Parents and teachers have reported improved relationships, better emotional understanding, and smoother school integration.

Child-Centered Therapy is a non-directive approach based on the belief that children have an innate understanding of their own needs. This method provides a structured yet open environment for children to explore themselves, fostering self-autonomy and confidence. It equips them with tools for self-regulation and a growth mindset.

The therapeutic use of play combined with creative approaches is pivotal, enabling children to experiment with various realities and process their experiences through creativity. Play, facilitated by a therapist, is integral to a child's development, helping them develop skills, explore scenarios, and access emotions that may be difficult to express verbally.

As a therapist, I provide guidance, reflect emotions, and establish boundaries, creating a safe, creative, and non-judgmental space for children to process their feelings. This approach is particularly beneficial for children who struggle to articulate or comprehend their emotions due to their cognitive development stage.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
