About me

I am a qualified BACP registered Integrative Counsellor offering face-to-face and online sessions.

At times navigating life’s ups and downs can take its toll on all of us and leave us feeling anxious or depressed, or simply ‘stuck’. Perhaps this is as a result of major life events like bereavement or relationship breakdown. Or there may be more fundamental issues around one’s identity or sexuality. Perhaps there are struggles around health issues or stress at work.

Whatever the reason, at times like this the help of a trained counsellor can provide the support needed. I can work with you on a shared goal of gaining understanding and facilitating a process of acceptance or desired change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Counsellor with a Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling and I have worked with a range of clients within the NHS Talking Therapies service. I view therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist. I believe it’s important to tailor therapy to the individual needs of my clients and work with a range of psychological theories and approaches, including Person-Centred and Solution Focused Therapy, providing both short and longer-term therapy, where appropriate.

Before training as a therapist I spent 30 years in the media as a documentary-maker, at times supporting and working alongside victims of crime.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
