About me

Welcome to my profile.  If you have found this page it is likely that you are finding some aspects of your life difficult.   It may be that you have feelings of anxiety, depression, a loss of purpose, or that you have trouble understanding yourself, or feel misunderstood by others.

Events around us can sometimes leave us feeling sad and deflated - and we don't always understand the reasons for this or how to pull through and find a sense of joy in what we do or how we live; sometimes, we can feel low and not understand why. Years ago, I believed counselling wouldn't be beneficial, but I proved myself wrong and discovered it to be the exact opposite because it gave me the opportunity to speak with someone; I wasn't even looking for advice; I just needed a safe place to talk; it also helped me see things differently and gave me some new perspective on life.

Knowing that it helped me is the reason I became a counsellor. I wanted to give people a chance to deal with the challenges that they are facing. Perhaps you have lost touch with who you are, have trouble trusting others, have experienced loss, or have become affected by events happening around you or in the world.

I believe for therapy to be successful, the first thing you need is a therapeutic relationship. My approach is to facilitate a greater self-awareness; awareness of your inner world and how it affects you,  will give you more control over your life.

The space I offer is yours, and it will be led by you and what you need. I will always be honest and transparent with you. I want to understand your world and how you view your world.

Please feel free to browse my website. I offer a free, no obligation 25 minute initial telephone chat so that you can decide whether you feel that what I can offer would be right for you.  Similarly if I feel that you would be better suited to another form of counselling or engaging with another counsellor, I will let you know during this initial appointment.

I am a qualified Person-centred therapist. This means our work is shaped and tailored by what you need from our sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
