About me
Welcome! My name is Leonie and I work therapeutically with adult survivors of complex and dysfunctional childhood relationships and trauma. Jargon aside, this means simply, that we work together to try and make sense of your early relationships and experiences in childhood that you feel are still troubling you today.
Have you reached a point where you sense you just can’t carry on feeling this way? Maybe it’s a recent breakup or a build-up of feelings that’s just all become too much to cope with on your own.
Perhaps you are carrying a silent pain that you wish the people around you could see.
Maybe you are tired of not feeling understood by those closest to you. I wonder if you have lost your trust in others, and reaching out for help often feels impossible.
You are really not alone, and I would like to help, your feelings do matter.
You deserve to begin the journey to feeling more at peace.
I listen, empathize and gently try to understand what it feels like to be you. I will help you to explore your issues but never push you to talk about things that you are not ready for.
My approach is integrative, which essentially means that I work from a toolbox of therapy techniques. This allows us to go at your pace and use the appropriate approaches for you and your unique personality.
I am a warm, relatable person and my style of therapy is collaborative and gently challenging so I won’t just sit there in silence! There might even be a sprinkling of humour thrown in when appropriate.
I remember what it was once like to be a client myself, so am aware of how nervous you might be.
Above all I have a deep respect for you and your journey.
If you think you would like therapy with me, then please send a text, email or give me a call. I understand committing to therapy takes courage, so I offer a free 15 min phone consultation in which you can give me a brief outline of why you would like counselling and ask any questions that you might have.
Note: Accreditation "means that I have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the BACP."

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
