About me

At this present time I am able to offer face to face, telephone or online counselling.

There can be times in our lives when we feel we need someone impartial to talk to.

There may be many reasons, such as:

  • Anxiety, feeling overwhelmed/feeling unable to cope.
  • Feeling sad or depressed.
  • Work or family related stress.
  • Low self-esteem, lacking in confidence.
  • Relationship problems.
  • Coming to terms with a loss or a bereavement.
  • Coping with life changes.
  • Unable to see your way out of a dilemma or feeling stuck.
  • Unable to talk to family and friends.

Therapeutic counselling is a talking therapy. I believe that through counselling sharing thoughts and feelings can help you see your problems from a different perspective and together we can look at ways to overcome those problems. You may also become more aware of obstacles that prevent you from reaching your goals.

How I work

We can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours during our sessions, this will give you the opportunity to reflect on what you may wish to change or overcome. We can then look at ways for you to create those changes or ways to overcome your problems that will help you move towards your goals and aspirations. We will always work at a pace that feels right for you.

Sometimes it may be appropriate to explore the past to find out if it links to problems you may be experiencing in the present.

Our counselling sessions will take place in a calm, safe and confidential space.

I work in a way where I am honest, empathic and non-judgemental, which can help to build the trust that is integral to an effective counselling relationship.

Through change, whether it be a change we make within ourselves or externally, we can enhance our relationship with ourselves, with others and accomplish a much more fulfilling way to live our lives.

I work with an integrative approach, applying person-centred/humanistic and psychodynamic theory which I adapt to benefit each client individually.

If you wish to find out more please do contact me. I can offer a free up to 30 minute phone consultation.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethics and guidelines to ensure I work to a high professional standard.

I can offer short or long term therapy.

Sessions are 50 minutes long.

I am based in South London near to Brixton, Clapham, Herne Hill and Kennington.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualification is a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body. I also hold a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art.

I have previous work experience as a holistic and aromatherapy massage practitioner. This has been useful in helping to understand how the mind and body interact and influence one another. I have also taught yoga.

Other past work experience has included working in local government in housing with homeless families and young people.  I also have experience of working in secondary education supporting young people with special educational needs and disability.

During the Covid pandemic I volunteered in offering 12 weeks of free counselling to frontline NHS staff via the organisation 'Frontline19'.

For two years I was a voluntary counsellor with MIND, a leading mental health charity.

I run a private practice in South West London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
