About me

Hello my name is Lenore. I am an Integrative Counsellor which means that I am able to use different models to suit the individual as I do not believe that one model is suited to everyone, as each one is a unique individual.  I have been qualified since 1999 and have worked in education, disability, addiction and mental health and with people of different ages and cultural background.  I have a wealth of life experiences and I am able to empathize on an experiential level.  I believe it is important to "Take Time Out To Listen To Yourself"  To question, to reflect and hear those things that we may not be able to admit to ourselves or we may not want to hear so they get lost in the rush of everyday life.

Besides my practice I work as an Affiliate Counsellor for several EAP (Employee Assistant Programme) I work on a one to one basis with adults and older people.  I offer a confidential service and I aim to work with you in a sensitive way that will enable you to make sense of things, gain a different perspectives and develop a deeper awareness of self and understanding of your problems.  I am sensitive to the cultural and ethical background of individuals, to people's religious beliefs and respect these as an important part of who they are

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a therapeutic relationship which gives you the space to talk about your problems and concerns with someone who is skilled and has the time and objectivity to listen without judging, giving advice or becoming involved. Counselling is not only about problems but a way of building your Personal Development for example, having a better relationship with yourself and getting to understanding your relationship patterns etc....

How can Counselling help?

People seek counselling for different reasons. They may feel sad, hurt or angry, even overwhelmed by the things that have happened to them in the past; painful or difficult situations in the present and anxiety about the future.  Whatever your reasons,  I am committed to providing you with a safe space where you can explore your concerns and arrive at your own adult decisions without fear of being judged or shamed.

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us". ( Ralph Waldo Emerson)

What you can expect in your first session:

The first session last 50 minutes which is regarded an hour in counselling time.

My practice is based in Purley and the nearest stations are Purley Oaks and Purley. There's also good bus routes from Croydon, Coulsdon and the surrounding areas.  My  Practice is set within a garden with its own side entrance.  There is  access to a toilet within the practice and  there is good parking availability.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I maintain this by attending CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and regular supervision which helps me to become more effective in my work and to ensure both therapeutic and professional standards are maintained.

Making the decision to come to counselling can be very difficult for some people, especially if you are someone who finds it difficult to ask for help and see it as a weakness. It is quite the opposite. Take the first step by making that call as it may help you to decide if you want to take it a step further.

I have a voice mail service so should you call and I am not available to take the call please leave a message and I shall return your call within 24 hours.
