About me
Are you struggling to communicate with your partner or feeling disconnected? Do you wish to deepen your intimacy and strengthen your relationship? I’m Lauren, a neurodivergent Couples Therapist, passionate about supporting couples in navigating challenges and building deeper, more fulfilling connections.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy and a Masters-level Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, providing me with a deep understanding of relationship dynamics. My background in intensive care nursing has also given me insight into how trauma and communication breakdowns can affect relationships. Growing up as a child of divorced parents, I recognise the emotional complexity of relationships and the importance of empathy and understanding.
My approach is centred on supporting couples, particularly those dealing with psychosexual issues. I work with couples through every stage of their relationship, whether it’s improving intimacy, overcoming communication difficulties, or addressing psychosexual concerns. I use Gestalt techniques to explore the present dynamics within your relationship, helping you identify what’s contributing to tension and disconnection. I’m also inspired by the work of therapists like David Schnarch and Esther Perel, whose insights into intimacy and relational patterns inform my practice.
As a neurodivergent therapist and a bisexual cis woman in a straight-facing relationship, I bring a unique perspective to my work. I understand that relationships are complex and diverse, and I’m passionate about offering support that’s tailored to each couple’s individual needs. I also work with queer couples, and I’m committed to providing a non-judgmental, inclusive space where all identities are respected. My aim is to offer clients the freedom to express themselves openly, with an approach that values care, respect, and understanding.
Therapy with me is action-oriented. It’s not just about talking—it’s about creating practical steps for change. While I may integrate creative therapeutic homework assignments when appropriate, the main focus is on equipping you with tools to improve your relationship both inside and outside of the session. My goal is to guide you on a therapeutic journey where both partners can grow with honesty, vulnerability, and empathy.
What makes my approach unique? I’m direct but compassionate, using analogies to simplify complex emotions and help couples better understand each other. I believe that acknowledging each other’s feelings and experiences is key to contentment. My work is about nurturing both individuals in the relationship so they can thrive—not only as partners, but also as individuals.
I offer therapy both in-person in Henley-on-Thames and via Zoom, providing flexible options to meet your needs. Whether you’re dealing with psychosexual issues, communication challenges, or simply want to reconnect, I’m here to help you build a stronger, more connected relationship.
If you’re ready to explore your relationship, address any psychosexual concerns, and embark on a supportive therapeutic journey, I’d love to work with you. Together, we can help you find the intimacy and fulfilment you both deserve.
