About me

Thank you for visiting my profile, I hope you find it helpful.

Sometimes we might struggle with what life is throwing at us at any one time. On many occasions, we know what is causing it: a loss, a traumatic event that happened to us or around us. At other times, we might not know why we feel the way we do, or how exactly we feel, we might just feel a general sense of unhappiness or dissatisfaction with our lives.

In the private space of counselling, we can start getting in touch with what is going on with us, examine the way we feel and respond to others and to the world around us. By providing an environment that promotes self-exploration, clients start gaining self-awareness, and gradually connecting with their inner wisdom and strengths, finding solutions from within.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a trauma informed counsellor/therapist, working with adults and children from the ages of 6 to 17.  I am a clinical assessor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children at School awarded by the University of East London and a BA in Person-centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute. I also hold postgraduate studies in Mental Health Practice and Adolescence Development from The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation.

I work with bereaved clients, in a NHS bereavement service, and with survivors sexual abuse. I am also a student counsellor in a drama college.  As a child counsellor, I have worked therapeutically with primary and secondary school children, supported parents and school staff to promote the children's mental health. I also have a private practice in North London.

Coming from a different culture, diversity is at the centre of my work.  I have worked therapeutically with a wide range of clients of different ages, cultural backgrounds, gender sexual orientations, mental and physical abilities.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner, I hold a full DBS clearance, and all my counselling work is supervised by a BACP recognised clinical supervisor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
