About me
I offer two forms of engagement for individuals seeking support: psychotherapy in person and online, and in-person combined psychotherapy & exercise. My practice location is The Soma Space in Oswestry, Shropshire.
Psychotherapy
As a psychotherapist I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore the questions and issues which may be causing difficulties in their lives, including anxiety, depression and overwhelm. People seek psychotherapy for many reasons, and the emphasis in our work will be exploring what is important to you, at a pace which suits you. I offer sessions both online and in-person in Oswestry, Shropshire.
About Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
The psychodynamic school is among the most longstanding of therapy approaches and it considers both a client’s past and present to discover what may be preventing them from living fully. This approach views the human mind (or psyche) as dynamic, with thoughts, feelings and memories interacting in many ways, aiming to bring these into awareness. I also draw on ideas from existentialism and other philosophies offering valuable guides on the task of living well.
Contemporary Help For Mental Health
I am also mindful of the social and cultural forces surrounding us and the ways in which sexuality, gender, race, faith and class form us. Above all I aim to build therapeutic relationships in which individuals feel able to speak about anything they wish to – perhaps the only space in their lives where they can do so. I have experience of working both with adolescents and adults, and with gender and sexuality-questioning individuals.
Combined Psychotherapy & Exercise
I am also qualified, accredited and insured as a Fitness, Boxercise and Tai Chi Instructor, and I offer a combined psychotherapy & exercise engagement for individuals wishing to explore the benefits of exercise on mental health alongside psychotherapeutic work. The benefits of exercise are well known and recommended by the NHS yet many individuals may struggle to begin exercising – this engagement assists individuals both in exploring exercise at the same time as working therapeutically towards improved mental health.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am qualified as a psychodynamic psychotherapist and trained on the level 7 MA Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths College, where I also did my foundation therapy training and first degree. I was awarded a Distinction on the programme.
I was also an Associate Therapist at The Albany Trust and previously worked with adolescents at Haberdasher’s Hatcham College. I am a registered member of the BACP (398075) and adhere to its code of ethics, and am insured and in regular supervision.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer a free initial phone consultation where we can explore what has motivated you to seek help, with a further one-hour consultation charged at £50 to discover more about your search for support. If we agree to work together our 50-minute session will be held at the same time each week. At present, I work online via Zoom and in-person in Oswestry, Shropshire. My fee is £60 per session, or £80 for those earning over £60,000/year, and I offer some concessionary spaces for individuals on low incomes. I request that fees are paid in advance of each session.
