About me

What would it be like to be supported in recovering from difficult past experiences? What if you could develop healthy boundaries and improve your relationships? What would it be like to lessen the overwhelm, or quiet the part of you that feels panicked or anxious?

I work with adults struggling with different aspects of their lives and offer a calm and confidential space where you can feel safe, supported and understood – even when your life is at its most difficult.

Hello, my name is Kerry.

I'm an experienced integrative psychotherapist offering online psychological therapy services for adults (18+ years). Whether you have a specific problem such as relationship difficulties, loss, a personal trauma, a big decision to make or are feeling sad and don’t really know why, my holistic and integrative approach to therapy can help.

With over 10 years of professional expertise, my aim as a therapist is for us to explore and make sense of what lies behind your current difficulties - to open up the possibilities for change. One of the most important things when looking for a therapist is to find someone you feel comfortable with, can relate to, and feel supported by.

I understand it can be hard to share difficult, painful, or embarrassing things – and also want to acknowledge the anxiety that can arise when deciding to ask for support. Whatever your reasons are for seeking out help, please know they are valid. While it often feels nerve-wracking to take the first step, by doing so, know that you are initiating change.

I work with individuals, offering both short-term counselling and longer-term therapy, depending on what you are looking for from our work together. Together, we can explore the issues that are troubling you and find a better way forward. Please look at my website to get more information about me and my practice.

What to do next

If you’d like to enquire further, please get in touch to request your free 15-minute Introductory call. You can then see how comfortable you feel with me. I do prefer to talk to you directly before arranging your first 50-minute appointment (also known as a ‘Consultation’) as this can give you a sense of me before we meet.

To contact me, you can email me, give me a call, or send me your enquiry using the ‘Contact Me’ page on my website. If you ring me and I’m not available, do leave me a voicemail so that I can get back to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I have been working as a therapist for over a decade. I practice a type of therapy called Integrative Psychotherapy, which simply means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, (both evidence-based and holistic) so that I can adapt how I work to meet your needs.

I work online (Zoom and by phone), and offer both short-term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy to individuals aged 18+.

During my early clinical career, I worked for several years at a counselling agency in Chesham, Bucks, as part of their Psychotherapy Team. In 2016, I founded my private practice. For a further four years, I provided in-person counselling and psychotherapy to adults throughout the Chilterns region. In March 2020, I evolved my practice into a full online psychotherapy business, enabling me to extend my geographical reach throughout the UK.

Training

I am trained in a wide range of psychological issues. I support individuals experiencing challenges that typically include anxiety, low mood, relationship issues and family difficulties, stress/burn-out, self-criticism and traumatic experiences, life transitions, and difficulties adjusting to living with a physical health condition (including ME/CFS and Long Covid).  I am always happy to discuss any difficulties you may be experiencing to see if I can help.

Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate Diploma (Dip Psych) in Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP)
  • Certificate in the Foundations of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP, UKCP)
  • Introduction to Counselling Skills (CPCAB)
  • UKCP Accreditation
  • BACP Registration

I am committed to my ongoing personal and professional development.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
