About me

Hello and thanks for visiting my profile. I specialise in working online and in person with children and adults. Most commonly, I work with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, loss, trauma, self-esteem concerns, abuse and with questions of identity.

Sometimes there are challenges in life, is there an area of your life that you are struggling with? Perhaps you are experiencing difficulties in your relationships, feelings stuck in your existence, or feeling empty and unable to move forward.

Whatever you are going through, we can explore together to help you make sense of your experiences. My therapy sessions offer a non-judgemental space for you to identify what you would like to change. I will help to empower you to make choices to live your life in accordance with your values and beliefs.

My approach

My integrative style allows me to adapt my strategies in accordance with your needs. This enables me to offer alternative methods of helping you. When it comes to therapy, there is no one size fits all, different people benefit from other models at different times. I recognise each person as unique and aim to be fluid and responsive by combining techniques.

My empathic understanding and emotional connection with my clients is the essence of my approach that creates a successful therapeutic relationship. I view this as being beneficial in your journey of emotional and psychological healing. For me, therapy is not about telling you what to do, it is about nurturing personal growth to help you to find your own solutions. My aim is to assist you to achieve your goals, explore different options, resolve past issues, enable resolution and progress forward with confidence.

What happens in a therapy session?

I see therapy as a collaborative partnership that involves having an opportunity to explore your world in a confidential setting. My role as a therapist is to help you gain insight and clarity. Coming to therapy can offer you a comfortable space to unload the stresses of life in which you can experience being heard.

Being supported, valued, and understood can lead to new ways of understanding yourself. I aim to help you to understand what is causing and maintaining your difficulties, as it is important for progress and recovery. Together we can identify your patterns of unhealthful behaviours and work to undo these patterns that no longer serve you. I will be guided by you and together we can find new ways of dealing with the challenges you are facing. I am here to support you, in getting you from where you are, to where you want to be. I will walk with you on your journey to mental wellness.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold BSc (Hons) Counselling degree. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is rooted in: Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, Psychodynamic, Existential Therapy, Play Therapy. I am committed to my ongoing professional development, attending regular conferences, workshops, and training, as well as carrying out extensive research.

During my time as a therapist, I have worked for various organisations and charities in the London Borough of Havering and Essex, as well as selected schools. Prior to becoming a therapist, my passion for helping others led me to work extensively within the mental health field for over 10 years. I have also previously worked within several care settings for the local authority supporting looked after children with various issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
