About me
I am a warm, caring integrative counsellor and have always found it natural to empathise with others, encouraging them to express their feelings. I have always been interested about how someone is 'feeling on the inside' , encouraging them to be curious and offering support when needed.
I find that my life experiences, from my upbringing to my medical career as an adult and children's nurse, are contributing to my counselling skills, allowing me to work collaboratively with the client.
As a counsellor, I believe the most important skill is listening to the client, allowing them to help themselves, after all, everybody has a story.
Training, qualifications & experience
My background is originally from nursing as I am a trained adult, children's and intensive care nurse.
In my previous job where I worked for 16 years, as a paediatric nurse specialist, I counselled and supported families in highly emotive states, supporting them dealing with health issues, change, loss, expected and sudden death and bereavement.
I have studied at a higher diploma level in counselling and obtained level 4 in counselling skills and theory and level 5 professional diploma in psychotherapeutic practice. I have experience in counselling adult clients for a charity called St. Martin's counselling in Birmingham, supporting clients with issues around, anxiety, depression, loss, change, health, bereavement, low confidence, self esteem issues, low motivation, low mood and suicide ideation. I have also been involved with the assessments of clients ensuring they are directed to the appropriate support. My engagements with clients have included face to face, telephone and a remote/video counselling.

It is important that you get the right support. You can then decide if you want to start counselling, as it is very important that you feel comfortable.
