About me

I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist  (DClinPsy, BSc Hons) and HCPC registered practitioner with over 15 years of clinical and academic experience.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a Guest Lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway University of London and as a tutor with the Association of Psychological Therapies.

I work privately with adults and primary school aged children.

Therapeutic Values and Practice

My first aim is to build a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe to explore and talk about their experiences. I provide a compassionate and empathic space, approaching difficulties with kindness and curiosity. I support clients to work with what they have been struggling with while also developing an understanding of their strengths. From building a shared understanding of the above, I work with clients to develop a plan which utilises a combination of skills and overall therapeutic concepts, for example self-compassion, stress/anxiety management, building positive self identity and maintaining healthy relationships.

As an experienced Clinical Psychologist I am able to tailor my approach to the goals and values of the individual, drawing on a range of therapeutic models as best appropriate to the client.  The therapeutic models I draw on in particular include Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

I have found great value in noticing the stories clients have about themselves and others, and to work with them to develop positive narratives  to how they view themselves. This can not only support mental health, but also help build confidence, positive self identity and improve overall quality of life. I aim to integrate self-compassion into my practice to foster the development of long-lasting principles and skills that will provide my clients with long-term benefits.

Testimonials

Therapy:

"Working with Kat had a hugely positive impact on my life in many ways. I learned valuable tools and thought processes that helped me navigate some difficult circumstances, and these are skills that I still use today.”     PA, 34, London

Autism Assessments:

“Kat’s interview style was special. There is something about going to do an assessment, initially being apprehensive, but then forgetting about it because the interviewer brings you into her world, puts you at ease. You feel safe.”     Business Consultant, 38, London

Why the name Sonoro?

The name for my practice comes from the Italian musical term meaning to play or sing with depth and to be rich in quality and meaning. This feels right as a therapist,  and I also love how it echoes my love of music and previous life as a musician.

As you might imagine, I’ve therefore work a lot with musicians and those who work in creative industries.
