About me

Thank you for taking the time to explore my profile, I appreciate taking the first step can be daunting and potentially scary. I think that there can be a misconception that counselling is there to “fix” people, for me “fix” is not the appropriate word as it can cause people to think there is something wrong with them, which is not the case.  I like to think of counselling as a safe non-judgmental space for you to explore what is causing you difficulties at this current time.

What you can expect

I offer a free 10/15 minute chat to allow you to get a sense of who I am as a person. In the first session, we'll meet to discuss what brings you to therapy, address any questions or concerns you might have, and see whether it feels right for us to work together. I believe that relationships are very important, and this is at the core of my approach: so whether that’s thinking about how you relate with yourself, others or even within our therapeutic relationship.

I will work with you at your own pace, I have no expectations, agendas and do not impose theories or unrealistic targets. This is your space to experience what comes up for you in a supportive, non judgmental, and accepting environment. I understand and respect that no two people are the same, nor have they experienced the same things in the same way.  I will always focus on your individual circumstances, support you through understanding your thoughts and feelings, helping you to process and understand what is happening. I like to think of counselling as a space to help you understand you better, because you are the best tool to help you move forward.

I hope to show you that counselling is somewhere you can be curious, a time you can experience your thoughts and feelings and reconnect with yourself. To take time for you, because you are what's important.

About me

I have worked 16 years in the public sector, helping and supporting vulnerable adults who were experiencing difficulties in their lives. I enjoy working with people and decided to transition into a different therapeutic role, working as a self employed counsellor.

I currently volunteer at a charity organisation as a counsellor and have done for nearly 2 years. I continue to volunteer with them and rent a therapy room from them, which is where I undertake my private practice.
