About me
My name is Kaoru Ohtake and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
I offer one-to-one Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) sessions to help you overcome your depression and anxiety. I can also tailor my CBT to anger management and difficulties associated with physical long-term health conditions.
Face-to-face sessions are available in Twickenham, and I also deliver telephone and video sessions.
Please contact me for a brief introduction call if you are interested.
In addition to therapy in English, I am able to deliver CBT in Japanese. 日本語での認知行動療法のセラピーセッションも可能です。ご希望の場合はぜひご連絡ください。
Training, qualifications & experience
I have delivered Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help people who struggle with depression and anxiety within the NHS since 2014.
I grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to the UK in 2004 to study psychology. I completed a BA in Psychology at Winchester and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods at Birkbeck College, London. After this, I worked for a learning disability service in East London and a few mental health projects run by housing associations in North and West London.
I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions and subsequently a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Interventions (CBT) to qualify as a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist. I have taken various clinical and managerial roles within an NHS talking therapy service based in Surrey.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
