About me

When we have problems with our mental health, there can be a knock on effect on our physical health as well as other aspects of our lives like work and relationships. Talking things over with an experienced counsellor can be an invaluable chance to help us get back on track and improve our quality of life.

I have always had an authentic interest in helping others through difficult times and have overcome adversity myself with the help of counselling and this very naturally drew me to a career in therapy. I work with clients with empathy and an open mind, with the sole purpose of working alongside someone as they explore ways of understanding their issues and discovering healthy ways to heal and move forward.

I hope that by offering a safe, supportive space that allows you to feel heard, accepted and understood, we will be able to explore any current or past difficulties and you will be able to find your own, unique way forward. Often, speaking to a person who is not connected to your life allows a freedom to voice honest emotions and issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Person centred Counselling, from the University of Aberdeen.
  • COSCA certificate in Counselling Skills

I have previous experience working in a counselling agency, GP practice and an addiction recovery service. I work within the BACP ethical framework which ensures the safety, best practice and confidentiality of both counsellors and clients.

I am committed to my own professional development to give my clients the best service possible. Some of the additional training I have undertaken includes:

  • SVQ in CBT for anxiety and Depression
  • SVQ in Recovery Coaching
  • Introduction to Mindfulness

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
