About me

I am a fully qualified Counsellor offering Counselling and TA (Transactional Analysis) Psychotherapy working with adults, both individuals and couples, my practice offers you a space either online or face-to-face. I have several years experience working with adults who come for many different reasons including depression, anxiety, anger, OCD, family issues, trauma, low self esteem and stress. Have you been feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel like everything’s getting on top of you?
Are you juggling responsibilities and finding it difficult to make time for your own thoughts?
Do you want to improve your relationships and find more productive ways of communicating?
Perhaps memories from your past are holding you back and you’ve decided it’s time to address them; in a safe environment with a professional.
Or maybe you’re looking for a new direction, a sense of feeling more empowered in your life.
If any of this sounds familiar, I might be able to help…

I offer a safe environment and a warm non judgemental relationship. Working together we can increase the capacity for personal change and help you feel more in control of your life. I enjoy working with "people" - so most of all I am interested in you as an individual, in you as a person and especially your narrative or "story". What has happened in your life and what is going on right now that might be causing you distress.

The strength of our working relationship is key to the success of counselling. I believe you are the expert on yourself and your life but sometimes we need someone to help us reflect and think more clearly for a period of time. I respect that all of us are individuals and all have diverse and different experiences, feelings and beliefs.

The main approach I use in my practice is Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapy. See http://www.uktransactionalanalysis.co.uk/what-is-transactional-analysis/ for more information. I also integrate learning and experience from other approaches to suit the individual.

I offer short and long term Counselling and Psychotherapy, which can also be discussed at our first session.

Memberships

The work that I do is ethical, professional and closely supervised. I am a current member of UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), EATA (European Association for Transactional Analysis) and UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis) who monitor standards of competence and ethical practice for TA practitioners.

Is Therapy Right For Me?

Choosing to take part in therapy can be a daunting experience. It is really important to find someone that you feel you can work with. My philosophy is that the relationship we will create is the key to therapy. The way in which I work is based on the principles of Transactional Analysis and the use of counselling skills.
I offer warm, supportive counselling as well as focussed change work.

I work very hard to keep a keen and sharp edge as a therapist and to offer excellence in my practice. I would be glad to hear from you if this sounds the right direction for you.

What happens first?

When you contact me I will respond within 24 hours, we will then arrange an initial free of charge telephone or online appointment to discuss what brings you to therapy and if I am someone you believe you can work with. At this point you can ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have. If we decide to proceed we will then agree a suitable time for us to meet.

For an informal, confidential discussion or to book an appointment please call on 07419 766066 or email on juliesonastherapy@gmail.com

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I am located 30 minutes from Dundee, 50 minutes from Perth and Aberdeen. There is ample street parking close to my premises.
