Registered Counsellor MBACP

About me

There are times in our lives that we hesitate to share our inner thoughts and feelings, or keep our problems and painful experiences, anxieties, or worries from our friends, loved ones, and family.  In times like these, it is helpful to talk things out in confidence to someone who will listen without being judgemental or critical, but will be there to offer a tentative ear with empathic understanding, with a genuine care, warmth and respect.

I offer Person-Centred Counselling which is non- directive but I work in collaboration with client.  I provide a confidential individual counselling service and a safe place to talk, where you are free to explore your thoughts and feelings in confidence about anything you may like to bring into counselling.

Assuring that I will be here for you, I will not give advice. On the contrary, I seek to listen with compassion and understanding as you share your experiences and life struggles, promising to accept you, not to judge you, facilitate the process, and provide comforting companionship on your journey.  I am passionate in supporting clients, providing support in reaching their own potential and to promote growth and healing.

Apart from face to face, telephone and video counselling, I also offer outdoor therapy: 'walk and talk'.

Outside of work, I am a fan of yoga and tai chi.  I love nature, music and art.  I also delight in sightseeing, travelling, gardening and spending time with my family.

Training, qualifications & experience

BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling, Diploma of Higher Education in Person-Centred Counselling, BS Psychology, Certificate in Counselling Skills, Bereavement Training Course, Brief Intervention Counselling, Expressive Art Therapy, Domestic Abuse, Drug and Alcohol Abuse Training.

I have been a volunteer counsellor to various charity organisations upto the present time; thus, I gained diverse experiences in dealing with complex issues such as loss, grief, self-worth, feeling anxious and those listed below in the areas and other areas of counselling I deal with.

I continually attend monthly supervision and I attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) regularly by enrolling courses online that are beneficial to my counselling work.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
