Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional information

Single Sessions:

Face-to-face - £45 - 50 minutes. Most client prefer this mode of counselling as it allows you time to connect and bring yourself to a safe space away from your home setting. It may seem daunting at first as we are strangers, but this is actually the key successful counselling. The fact that we don't know each other means there is no predetermined judgement and we can both form a therapeutic relationship based on our true selves.

Telephone – £45 – 50 minutes. This is a flexible way for those who are less able to commute. It offers a sense of anonymity which may help you to feel more comfortable in opening up about difficult situations.

Video/TEAMS - £45 – 50 minutes. A great option for you if you seek connection and enjoy a face-to-face conversation, but prefer to be in your own space. This could also be because of transport issues or if you're fitting a session in between working from home and it saves time travelling. You would need to feel comfortable that there is no-one there that can overhear your session and a good internet connection is needed.

Walk & Talk – £50 – 1 hour. Exercise is proven to increase to enhance physical health. A walk and talk session allows you the opportunity to exercise and talk. It's a chance for you to improve your fitness and well-being simultaneously. We can meet at a local park and take a leisurely stroll to ensure no-one can over hear us.

Couples Counselling - £85 – 90 minutes.  A chance to not only express your feelings to each other, but more importantly, this space allows you to feel heard and understood with no interruptions. Communication is important, but comprehension is key.

Child Therapy (5-16) - £45 – 50 minutes. Children can sometimes feel overwhelmed and speaking to their loved ones can feel daunting. I have many techniques when working with children including play therapy, worksheets and self-help tools that can be used at home also.

Clinical Supervision - £67.50 – 90 minutes.  Supervision is essential to how practitioners sustain good practice throughout their working life. Supervision provides practitioners with regular and ongoing opportunities to reflect in-depth about all aspects of their practice in order to work as effectively, safely and ethically as possible. Supervision also sustains the personal resourcefulness required to undertake the work. (An extract taken from the BACP Ethical Framework).
