About me

Hello, my name is Joanna. I am a qualified and BACP registered person-centred counsellor and therapist. I work face-to-face with adults of all ages and young people from my counselling studio in Wymondham.

My own professional experience, along with research shows the quality of the relationship between you and your therapist is key towards sharing and working through things that may be causing you distress, difficulty or worry. Doing this inside a safe, trusting, non-judgemental and genuine relationship can enable you to feel truly heard and listened to (maybe for the first time). In doing this people are able to move towards self-acceptance, growth and the life they would like to live.

With this in mind please feel free to make contact with me via e-mail, text, call or WhatsApp message for an initial, no obligation conversation to see if together we feel that I, and my way of working, may be a good fit for you.

I am a person-centred counsellor and I work in a way which is predominantly non-directive. What is most important to me is that I can offer you a space/relationship that is safe, confidential, honest and open where you will feel able to bring whatever is troubling you without being met with any judgement. I believe that the counsellor is not the expert giving advice of how to 'fix' you. Rather that through offering you the space and time to be heard, at your own pace, with true understanding and real empathy you can be provided a genuine opportunity for growth and change.

Moving on from first phone or e-mail contact I will offer you an initial session (at a reduced rate) where we can talk a little about what has brought you to counselling, get to know each other and see if we feel I am able to offer you the right support. At this initial session we can also discuss the contract, fees, session days and times and I will go over my privacy policy with you.

I welcome any enquiries, questions and look forward to meeting you if you feel you wish to proceed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
