About me

Hello, my name is Jill.  I am an experienced integrative counsellor who has additional training from the Association of Family Therapists and in EMDR practice.

How I can support you

Are you experiencing the deep sadness and loneliness of grief and bereavement?
Is the churning intensity of stress or anxieties, either at home or work, impacting your life?
Do you have family issues that are causing tensions in relationships that you do not know how to repair?
Do you, or does someone you love, have a long-term health condition or have you been diagnosed with cancer and you are feeling lost, angry or panicked?
Do you have a troublesome phobia that is holding you back?
Is there a traumatic experience from your past that needs resolving?

As an integrative counsellor, I tailor the therapies I use to your individual uniqueness and situation.  I offer a safe and respectful space, that encourages understanding of your own strengths and ways of coping. We will explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, relationships and your context to understand them better.  The aim is for the issues you are facing to become clearer and for your thinking about them to shift, because this offers hope.  You can re-evaluate what is troubling you and consider your own options for managing change, then, when you are ready, we can develop and rehearse your plan of action.

The ways I work

I work with individuals and couples online and I draw on: -

  • Client-centred principals to develop a trusting working relationship with you, to support your self-understanding and encourage your individual growth and development.
  • CBT helps us to explore and gives strategies and resources to change your thoughts, understand and calm your feelings and bring choices about your behaviours.
  • Attachment-focused therapy gives insights into the patterns in your relationships and ways of coping
  • Family Therapies support families to work together when faced with difficulties and differences in relationships
  • EMDR is used for trauma treatment because it enables the processing of negative past experiences that continue to have a current impact.  It is also effective with anxiety, phobias, bullying or social humiliations and complicated grief.
  • Neuroscientific ideas tell us that we are designed to change.  Also having some insight into how our brain works can help us to understand ourself and our responses better.

I am available during:

  • Wednesdays 10am – 7pm
  • Thursdays 1pm – 5pm
  • Fridays 8am – 5pm

Please contact me by email

Email me to arrange a 20-minute introductory conversation (no charge). You can briefly say what is bringing you to counselling and ask any questions you have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
