About me

I am a HCPC-registered and BPS chartered Clinical Neuropsychologist, specialising in offering cognitive assessment and therapy to individuals with neurological conditions. Often, the impact of neurological symptoms can be uncertain, bringing up feelings of loss and anxiety. It can be difficult to adjust your lifestyle to the challenges that present, leading to feeling disconnected from what is most important. I pride myself on being conscientious and integral, offering a safe therapeutic space to explore what feels most difficult right now.

I predominantly draw upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, but compliment this with Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Systemic Therapy when indicated.

I appreciate finding the right psychologist is important so please browse my website or consider sending an enquiry if you'd like a free 15 minute consultation to discuss your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional registrations
I am a HCPC registered and BPS Chartered Clinical Neuropsychologist, with acknowledgement on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists. This register represents the gold-standard of professionals practising Clinical Neuropsychology. As well as HCPC registration, I have Level 2 BABCP accreditation and foundation level AFT accreditation meaning that I am able to deliver a variety of evidence-based cognitive and systemic therapies.

I follow the code of ethics and conduct of the BPS, and comply with the Information Commissioners Office and UK GDPR guidance. I have an enhanced DBS check and full insurance for private practice in the UK.

Academic qualifications
I completed my doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Bath and also completed a Masters in Applied Neuropsychology and a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Neuropsychology Practice at the University of Bristol. I have published research in peer-reviewed journals to inform the clinical practice of my peers and I provide taught lectures to post-graduate and doctoral level university courses.

Clinical experience
I am experienced in assessing and treating adults with neuropsychological conditions across acute neurosurgery, inpatient neurorehabilitation, outpatient clinics and visiting people in the community. I currently work at Southmead Hospital (North Bristol NHS Trust) within functional neurosurgery, cognitive disorders and general outpatients and at Totus Neurorehabilitation as a treating clinician in brain injury litigation, alongside my own private work.

I am experienced in providing evidence-based treatments for mood symptoms such as anxiety, depression and stress. My work is predominantly informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Systemic therapy.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information

At JC Neuropsychology, my core ethos is rooted in compassion and a commitment to improving the lives of individuals living with neuropsychological conditions. I am dedicated to providing comprehensive assessment and evidence-based treatment to support clients' cognitive, emotional and behavioural well-being.

My practice is built upon the following guiding principles:

  • Client-Centered Approach: I believe in putting my clients at the heart of everything I do. Understanding that every individual is unique, I tailor my assessments and treatments to meet specific needs, goals and concerns. I aim to foster an environment where open communication, trust and empathy are key elements to the therapeutic relationship.
  • Scientific Excellence: As a Clinical Neuropsychologist with eligibility for specialist registration, I adhere to the highest standards of scientific rigor and evidence-based practices. My assessments and treatments are informed by the latest research and clinical advancements, ensuring the most effective and up-to-date interventions for my clients.
  • Holistic Understanding: I recognize that neuropsychological conditions often involve complex interactions between biological, psychological and social factors. By creating a shared understanding, I aim to go beyond identifying the symptoms and to delve into formulating the underlying factors contributing to or exacerbating symptoms. My treatment plans are holistic and consider the whole person, not just their diagnosis.
  • Empowerment and Education: Assessment and treatment is underpinned by the notion that knowledge is empowering. Throughout the process, I strive to educate my clients and their families about their conditions, potential challenges and available interventions. This understanding enhances their ability to meaningfully engage with life.
