About me

I am Psychological Therapist and Clinical Supervisor with over 13 years of experience in counselling across a variety of settings. My clinical experience has been mainly in supporting people with trauma in their healing journey. I have also worked extensively with clients to navigate anxiety, depression and self esteem issues.

In private practice, I work with clients to navigate:

  • emotional distress (e.g. depression, anxiety)
  • emotional dysregulation (e.g self-harm)
  • trauma recovery
  • relationship issues
  • personal growth (e.g. self esteem, identity)
  • life transitions (e.g. career change)

I adopt an integrative approach in my clinical work, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Therapy and Narrative Exposure Therapy for post-traumatic stress. In a safe and empathetic space, we can explore issues of cultural identities, address internal conflicts, and develop coping strategies to navigate societal pressures and expectations.

Therapy is tailored to each client’s individual needs and style, to support people to experience breakthroughs in areas of emotional/ mental stuck points, to arrive at greater self-understanding, in order to move towards better balance and enjoyment in life

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and hold a Masters degree in Counselling.

In addition to my academic qualifications, I have also co-authored publications that have aimed to address the gap between academic research and clinical experience. I have co-authored academic research on minority women/girls and gender-based violence, and also a toolkit for frontline professionals on strategies to engage minority ethnic women and girls on issues of gender-based violence.

My work experience includes leading projects and teams in services for survivors of sexual violence, Head of Psychosocial Services at a leading provider of support services to refugees and asylum seekers, and more recently, served as CEO of an organisation that supports survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation to exit, recover and build skills for permanent exit from the commercial sex industry. I also deliver training to frontline professionals on trauma-informed care and therapeutic interventions, as well as provide clinical supervision to counsellors in training.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
