About me

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I guess if you find yourself here then things may be a little difficult for you at the moment. People access counselling for a number of different reasons all of which are valid and important. Facing these challenges can sometimes feel like a lonely and daunting journey.

I am a qualified Humanistic Therapeutic Counsellor working with both Individual Adult Clients and Couples. I believe that all human beings have the potential and capacity to grow in a positive way. Humanistic counselling can help clients to recognise and develop their personal values, unique strengths, and their creativity, thus becoming a more capable and responsible.

Working with Adults

You may feel anxious... worried... angry, like everything has got too much at the moment. Do you feel unheard and ignored or misunderstood, and therefore isolated. Maybe you need to understand your identity and who you are as a person. Whatever it is that brings you to counselling, my aim is to offer a supportive environment where you can be heard and seen without judgment, a space to process and understand what is going on for you.

I work in a creative and flexible way, collaborating with my clients to create a relationship that facilitates growth and a deeper personal awareness and connection to themselves. Each client is unique with their own individual experience; therefore, I listen with curiosity to fully understand how my client as an individual experiences their life. I help clients to break through barriers that may hold them back in life, helping them to reach their full potential.

Working with Couples

It might be that the challenges and busyness of life has taken its toll on your relationship, and you realise that you've drifted apart. Could it be that communication has broken down and you're no longer working as a team. Maybe your relationship is under threat due to physical or mental ill-health, redundancy, differing ideas about parenting and/or becoming a 'blended' family. You may feel that sexual difficulties have become impossible to resolve.

There are so many reasons why a couple come for counselling. You may be coming knowing from the outset that you will separate but need support in making the break happen as easily as is possible.

I will not give you the answers or tell you whether or not you should separate. But I will provide a safe place for you to explore feelings and issues. Working collaboratively with you both to ascertain what is happening in your relationship, offering interventions to help you both to communicate effectively and reach your own conclusions.

I often find that couples who are both committed to the process will see that there is possibility for change that can help them experience a more fulfilled relationship.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
