About me

Hello and welcome, I am a fully qualified Counsellor based in the Eastern area of the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

I have a warm and empathic approach and I can offer you a non-judgemental and confidential space to allow you to explore your inner most thoughts and feelings of the difficulties and challenges you are encountering, where you can feel heard, understood and valued.

I am able to draw on different therapeutic approaches which enables me to work with your individual needs and style.  Providing a professional and confidential service to listen, support and work with you, at a pace that is comfortable for you, within a warm and collaborative relationship to enable you to heal, make changes to improve your life and to find meaningful ways forward.

Counselling can help you work through many of the difficulties you are experiencing, and I have experience in working with family or relationship issues, bereavement, work related stress, low self-esteem, addictions, symptoms of anxiety and depression, and suicidal thoughts to mention a few.  Mainly working within the evidence based framework of Cognitive Therapy (CBT),  it can help presenting situations as mentioned above.  CBT is a short term structured and evidence based therapy, used by the NHS and promoted by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), an independent organisation set up by the Government and their guidance can help patients, carers and service users to receive care that is based on the best available clinical evidence.

CBT Therapy is very successful in enabling clients to see clearly the connections of their thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours and to break the cycle of negative thoughts and feelings that are unhelpful.  Using a mixture of resources such as CBT interventions, psychoeducation and exercises to work on in between sessions enables you to have a deeper understanding of the difficulties you are facing and how to make changes to enable growth to evolve.

If you would like to find out more, I offer a complimentary 20 minute consultation either by phone or online.  This gives you an opportunity to discuss with me what brings you too seek therapy and what you would like to gain from it.  I can also furnish you with any further information on myself and the service I provide, and answer any questions you have.

My clinical hours were completed working for a Mental Health & Physical Wellbeing organisation in Leith, Edinburgh, where I amassed experience of working with clients who suffered Depression on varying levels,  different types of Anxiety, Self Harm, Addiction, OCD, Domestic Abuse to mention a few.  Using the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach proved to be a success in treatment of these conditions.  Since then I have continued to work with clients of varying ages and backgrounds covering Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Relationship problems, Sex Addiction and Work-Related Stress.
