About me

I am a compassionate and dedicated psychotherapist who believes in the inherent worth and potential of every individual.

I specialise in working with individuals experiencing difficulties in navigating the complexities of being in relationship.  This might be accompanied with other symptoms such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or confidence.  My work is informed by a deep understanding of how our experiences shape our internal emotional worlds.  Worlds which can be exacerbated when we have experienced trauma or when our early experiences have included inconsistent or absent caregivers.

How I work:

My approach is person-centred, meaning I strive to create a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences.  I work collaboratively with you, empowering you to reconnect with your authentic self.  In addition to a person-centred approach, I integrate experiential techniques, helping you access and process deep emotional experiences.  Together, we can explore the patterns, blocks or unspoken feelings that may be limiting your potential.

Whether you are seeking to enhance your sense of self, build stronger and healthier relationships or understand and heal from past experience or trauma, I will support you in this journey toward healing and personal transformation with respect, care and compassion.

Where I work:

I work in-person from two locations - NG5 close to Sherwood, Mapperley and Arnold and NG1 city centre, Nottingham .  Both are dedicated, welcoming, professional and confidential spaces with plenty of parking and frequent links to public transport.

I also work remotely offering online or telephone sessions for which I have had specialist training for.

I am happy to consider a blend of types of session depending on your unique situation and circumstances.

Next steps:

I understand that seeking therapy is a big step and it’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist.  Please reach out for a free initial consultation, where we can discuss your needs and see if my approach feels the right fit for you.

If you are ready to take the next step, I invite you to get in touch.

I would look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have had significant training and experience in a wide range of issues, including my areas of focus to help you decide if I might be the right therapist for you:

Intrapersonal development:

Refers to the process of improving your understanding of yourself, enhancing emotional intelligence and cultivating self-awareness.  My goal is to help you explore your behaviours, thoughts and feelings in a deeper way.  Understanding and feeling these stresses and challenges in this way can improve symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or confidence, nurturing a healthier relationship with yourself.  By aligning your actions with increasingly authentic values and beliefs, a more fulfilling life is attainable.

Interpersonal development:

Focuses on improving the way you connect, communicate and relate to others.  As a psychotherapist, the work we do together will explore your patterns of interaction in relationship with others – partners, family, friends, colleagues, communities and the environments in which you live.  Increasing your awareness allows for more meaningful, supportive and authentic connections to be built.  This can allow you to navigate challenging situations, manage social anxieties and communicate your needs more effectively to  improve your social connections and sense of self.

Trauma-informed therapy:

Trauma often affects not just our thoughts, but also our emotions and bodies and it can shape how we relate to others and ourselves.  In trauma-informed therapy, I approach your experiences with sensitivity and respect, recognising that you are the expert on your own life and healing journey.

From a person-centred perspective, it is about creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore the impact of past experiences on your present life, to feel heard and understood, no matter what you’ve gone through.  From an experiential perspective, we may work with the emotional and bodily sensations tied to trauma, allowing you to process and release these in a way that feels safe and empowering.

The goal of this approach is not just to talk about what happened, but help you reconnect with yourself – your emotions, body and inner wisdom – so that you can heal from the effects of trauma and move toward greater self-compassion, resilience and empowerment.  This therapy honours your pace, ensuring that healing happens in a way that feels manageable and supported.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.  I am waiting to hear from you and support you in taking your next steps forward.
