About me
People enter therapy for many reasons, it may be that you are feeling overwhelmed, unhappy or anxious. You may be struggling in your relationships, or with your identity and sense of self. It can be difficult to navigate the way through these times when you feel stuck or at a loss as to how to move forward. I offer patience and a safe, confidential space that fosters personal growth and autonomy. We will work together to make sense of your problems, enable a deeper understanding of yourself and make changes if you wish.
I am currently working towards a Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy and I am looking to work with individuals and couples with sexual difficulties such as: vaginismus, low desire, premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction.
Given my training it is best suited for a longer period of therapy I usually recommend a minimum of 20 sessions. I offer weekly and fortnightly sessions on Thursdays. If you would like to book a session please do contact me.
I am based in Gosforth near Newcastle, a short walk from a metro station.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have nearly 10 years experience of working as a therapist. I qualified as a counsellor in 2014 and as a Psychotherapist in 2017. I hold a diploma in both counselling and psychotherapy from the Northern Guild.
I have experience of working in primary care and the charity sector. I have worked in private practice since 2018.
I am also trained to deliver EMDR therapy completing my standard course in January 2023.
Currently working towards a Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy with Tavistock Relations.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
