About me

Welcome to my page. My name is Henrik and I am a humanistic therapist, here to help you find change, and support you during difficult stages in your life.

The key to successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, and perhaps it is because of my Scandinavian background that my clients often describe me as ‘hyggelig’, warm and gentle, with an inquisitive mind. It is important for me to create a space of complete confidentiality, where you feel safe to share anything that is going on for you without feeling judged. By choosing therapy, you will no longer be alone with your feelings or your thoughts. I will be here to take the journey with you.

I work face to face, at the moment and my base is in Haywards Heath.

I have extensive experience with bereavement, supporting carers, stress, anxiety, and communication within relationships. I have personal experience with pregnancy and parent-related issues from a man’s point of view.

Believing we are all unique, I do not see it as part of my practice to label my clients, but I have experience working with themes such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Bereavement
  • Performance (exams, sport, stage)
  • Relationship/family issues
  • Burnout
  • Behaviour change
  • Belonging
  • Self esteem
  • Self exploration
  • Parenthood
  • Mindfulness

Whether you want to work through personal problems, explore ideas or personal development, I can offer you a safe and confidential space where we can work together and help you find your answers so you can overcome internal or external conflicts and move forward, towards a greater sense of wellbeing.

How I work

Sometimes, we just need someone to be with us, who will listen, without judgement, e.g. around bereavement or self exploration. Sometimes we need someone who can help us find solutions to our problems and get in touch with ourselves and our feelings, which can help us understand ourselves and the world around us better. I will never tell you what to do. What works for me, or someone else, may not apply to you, and I think it is important that you find your own answers and take responsibility for your own life, so you can grow and find your true self. We will work together to explore your options, before you choose the right path for you, and I will be there to support you along the way.

I am not expecting you to perform or be in a certain way when we are working together, so just come along and be yourself. I am here to help, not judge. You will do most of the talking, while I listen and reflect on what I think could be useful for you to explore further, and drop some challenges along the way.

I offer an initial 30 minutes free of charge session, after which you can decide whether you would like to do your work with me. If you do, our sessions will be 50 minutes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
