About me
Hi - well done on getting this far and putting you first.
My name is Helen and I am an experienced and professionally qualified and accredited counsellor, supervisor and counselling tutor.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy which means I work within an ethical framework to keep us both safe.
I work with adults, young people and couples, as well as working jointly with parents and their children to assist in communication.
I offer a safe and confidential space in which to explore what brings you here, without fear of judgement or criticism. I have been trained in a broad variety of approaches to counselling and would draw on the strategies that we consider most suited to your needs.
Understanding what lies behind overwhelming thoughts and feelings can help strengthen self-awareness and enable change to take place. We can look at this together. Depending on what is right for each client I work long or short term.
I teach and supervise students training to be counsellors, so I welcome you on your exciting journey of self-discovery as long as I am not teaching you already.
Appointments are available during the daytime, evening or at weekends.
In these busy times, I will do my best to accommodate you. I am currently only doing one-to-one clients by Zoom.
I hope you find this informative but if you have further questions please do not hesitate to call me...........
Training, qualifications & experience
I currently teach students to become counsellors and supervisors.
I run my private practice from home which now means telephone or online therapy.
I am also a qualified supervisor who provides a safe online ethical space where counsellors or student counsellors can reflect on the content of their therapeutic work enabling them to work to the best of their ability and for the benefit of their clients.
I am a firm believer that as a therapist you should never feel alone and the supervisory relationship is key to supporting that.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
