About me

In my private practice, I see a variety of clients experiencing a range of difficulties. Many come who need help to cope with and understand their depression, anxiety, or relationship issues. I have a lot of experience working in bereavement and have worked with men and women of all ages and backgrounds to come to terms with their loss.

With a special interest in chronic pain and ill health, I also currently work in the NHS with patients at The Royal Marsden Hospital, supporting those who are undergoing treatment for cancer. I find this work deeply rewarding and life affirming.

Anyone interested in delving deeper into their past so that they can better understand what is going on for them in the here and now, could benefit from working with me.

From a place of compassion and empathy, I offer a warm welcome and safe environment to explore the issues that are causing you concern.

Often my work will be to help you recognise your resilience (even in those times when you were at your lowest, resilience was there in some form to bring you here, now) and to build more.

I want to know your story.

Who are you and how do you view the world? I want to know how you make meaning of your experiences and how this impacts you right now.

My belief is that our therapeutic relationship is the basis for healing. Our interactions will allow me to see patterns or common themes that we can then use to inform what you may want to change.

Above all else, I offer a collaborative approach. It is for you to decide what is important to you. I simply point out what I notice, you then tell me whether it is something you wish to explore more.

Training, qualifications & experience

With my clients I use an integrative approach, incorporating Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. Having an integrative approach means I have a range of psychotherapeutic ‘tools’ that I can call on.

I qualified as a psychotherapeutic counsellor from the well-respected Metanoia Institute in Ealing, West London and I am a registered member of the BACP.

I am continuing my training further with a MSc in psychotherapy, again from The Metanoia Institute.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I offer a free 15-minute telephone call for us to explore what brings you to counselling at this time and how I can help you.

After this, we can then book an initial consultation. This will last 50-minutes and costs £80. This will be an opportunity for me to learn more about you and for you to get a sense of what it would be like to have counselling with me.

If we both agree, we can then begin to work together. Depending on how you decided to work with me, my fees range from £70 - £80 per session.
