About me

Are you feeling stuck? Want things to change but not sure how to go about it? Whether it's a new issue or something that's been around for years, as my client I can help you to make sense of your difficulties and cope better.  I know from both personal and professional experience that starting therapy can feel nerve-wracking, so if you'd like to book in for a free consultation with me before you book any sessions then please do.  Please know that I will understand any nerves that are around and will do my best to help you feel more at ease.

I can offer you a neutral space to talk openly and safely, where you can  understand yourself and your experiences more, find new and better ways to face things and in which you can build resilience.  This will help you to cope better and free you up to live your life as you would want to.

I often work with people who have experienced a sense of things not being right that comes and goes over a number of years.  These issues are often about anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, or feeling sad.  I also frequently work with people where specific triggers such as work-related stress, a recent trauma, illness, postnatal depression, family issues or relationship difficulties have led them to seek help.  Sometimes people come to therapy because they feel controlled by their emotions or they are unable to cope with the magnitude of their feelings.  Sometimes people just feel stuck or want to find their old spark again.

Whatever the reason for you reaching out, we will work together - gently and at your pace - to make sense of the experiences you have had, and your feelings and thoughts now.  We will gradually build a picture of your life together and I will offer feedback and suggestions about the things that I notice.  Over the course of our work together we will explore new ways of understanding and approaching things that will help you build a greater sense of wellbeing and enable you to cope better.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Reg. PYL34904).  I have worked in the field of mental health for over a decade and have been working within clinical psychology in the NHS since 2014, including in senior and supervisory psychology positions.

I am trained and experienced in offering different forms of talking therapy which allow people to make sense of and address their difficulties.  In my work I draw predominantly upon acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic and compassion-focussed (CFT) models of therapy.  That said, there is no one-size-fits-all method when it comes to therapy and my approach will always be unique to the person and what they need in that moment.

I obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at the Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU).  Prior to that I completed a combined Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology at the Universidad Siglo 21 in Cordoba, Argentina.

I have worked in a wide range of services in the NHS, including Improving Access to Psychological Services (IAPT), both working age and older adult community mental health teams (CMHT), child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and a community service for people with learning disability (CLDT).  I have extensive experience working in NHS older adult mental heath services with a particular focus on dementia.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
