About me

Is this you?:

  • You feel emotionally overloaded with anxiety, stress or sadness.
  • You are self-critical and judge yourself more harshly than you judge others.
  • You find it hard to say "no" or to tell people what you want.
  • You often feel like you’re not good enough or failing somehow.
  • You’re either constantly busy and exhausted or you feel paralysed and unable to face things.
  • You feel stuck and unsure how to improve things.

If you can relate to this, then therapy with Thea Psychology can help.  Learn how to guide yourself with compassion and acceptance so you feel more emotionally at ease, build self-worth, and do more of the things that make life feel better.  Thea Psychology was created by Clinical Psychologist, Dr Hanne Warren, to help women with:

  • Anxiety, stress, and burnout
  • Depression, sadness and anger
  • People pleasing and perfectionism
  • Self-criticism, self-worth and self-confidence
  • Relationship difficulties and boundary setting

We know from the many women we have worked with - as well as from personal experience - what it is like to struggle with these issues.  Now, as psychologists with many years experience working in the NHS and private sector, we know there are psychological therapies that help and that things can change.

Testimonials from women who have had therapy with Thea Psychology:

"My therapy with Dr Hanne Warren over the last year has truly been life changing. For everyone willing to take the step to work on their mental health, I could not recommend her more."

"Hanne was extremely kind. I felt that I could be completely honest and open from the first session. By the end of our sessions, I felt that I had made huge progress with tools to help cope with my issues. Thank you"

"Having counselling with Hanne has transformed my life. She is so good at offering insight into what I’m going through and is always a huge help in encouraging me to reflect on a range of topics (in my case, self-esteem problems, break-ups, or friend and family issues). Throughout the months I’ve worked with her so far, I’ve always felt seen, encouraged, and understood. I can’t recommend her highly enough."

"Hanne has been such a fantastic help and support to me at what has, I think, been the most difficult time of my life. She creates such a sympathetic, warm, kind and safe space each week and uses a variety of different techniques and skills to help me very gradually go forward. I have always felt I can tell her anything, and she will find a way to help me. In my darkest times I have looked forward to seeing her as I know I she will say something that will resonate with me and help me. I have learnt so much about myself, my values and the person I am. I feel so lucky to have come across Hanne. Thea Psychology has a really good ethos and approach and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any woman who needed support."

"I’ve had a great experience working with Dr Hanne. She was able to understand me and give me the necessary tools so that I could make a real change and improve my life. She was always very friendly and created a safe space where I could express all my feelings without fear. I deeply appreciate her help and her work and I highly recommend her to others."

"I was apprehensive to start therapy as I struggle with being vulnerable and opening up to people - but from the start Dr Hanne made me feel comfortable and safe. I never felt judged throughout my sessions and left feeling more confident in myself and genuinely excited to put into practice what I had learnt. I would recommend Dr Hanne to anyone who is struggling with self esteem as our sessions have made a really big impact on me. As a chronic people pleaser I will forever have Dr Hanne's voice saying 'you're okay and they're okay' ringing in my head!"

"Absolutely love Dr Hanne, she's given me the confidence and the strength to move on with my life , I strongly recommend her"

"Talking with Dr Hanne Warren has been the best experience of therapy, despite it being a hard thing to enter into generally. She gave me a safe space to talk openly, giving a sense of familiarity and kindness that allowed me to be honest and feel 100% comfortable in our sessions. Approaching the sessions like a real human being while maintaining professionalism and boundaries is an art mastered, and allowed me to trust in the guidance and ultimately confront the issues I wanted to approach by going into it. Thank you!"

Training, qualifications & experience

I am the creator of Thea Psychology, a therapy practice offering high-quality psychological therapy for women.

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy)
  • MSc in Psychology
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology

I, like the other psychologists at Thea Psychology, am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Reg. PYL34904).

I have worked in the field of mental health for over a decade, both privately and within psychology in the NHS since 2011, including in senior and supervisory psychology positions.  I have extensive experience of helping women to move forward when they feel stuck, lost,  or in emotional pain.

I am trained and experienced in offering different forms of talking therapy which allow people to make sense of and address their difficulties. In my work I draw predominantly upon acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic and compassion-focussed (CFT) models of therapy.

I obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at the Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in 2017.  Prior to that I completed a combined Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology at the Universidad Siglo 21 in Cordoba, Argentina.

I have worked in a wide range of services in the NHS, including Improving Access to Psychological Services (IAPT), both working age and older adult community mental health teams (CMHT), child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and a community service for people with learning disability (CLDT).  I have extensive experience working in NHS older adult mental health services with a particular focus on dementia.

I created Thea Psychology determined to offer high-quality therapy services to women based in values of compassion, acceptance, empowerment and connection.

"I really enjoyed the sessions - you put me at ease and I was able to talk through a lot of things that were problems for me. I gained some good tools to use and also learnt not to be so hard on myself. I would definitely recommend you and if I ever need therapy in the future I will return."

"Thank you so much for your help and support over the last few months (year nearly?), it's been really difficult at times but you've helped me address some really unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and I feel that I've made some lasting changes"

"You have helped me through one of the most difficult and challenging periods of my life, but also allowed me to understand and accept the things that happened to me and enabled me to get into a much better frame of mind...  I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening to me, and enabling me to make a huge change for the better."

"Thank you very much for the sessions we had. It was incredibly helpful and I feel like it's made a huge difference to me."

"I feel like I have much more resilience than I had before. Much more calm, feeling much more level headed and less stressed. Whilst I now know there will be ups and downs, it doesn't feel like I wouldn't be able to cope with them... I feel like an enormous weight has been lifted. That itch seems to have gone; I feel truly content for the first time in my life.  I've had so many people say 'the value of therapy is right there - the fact you have the courage to go through this journey and the help the therapist has given you is undeniable'."
