About me

Does this sound familiar?:

You find it hard to say "no" or to tell people what you want.

You judge yourself much more harshly than you judge others.

You often feel like you’re not good enough or failing somehow.

You never stop trying, but can’t seem to solve things.

You’re often exhausted, constantly busy, and have little time for yourself.

You wish you could make decisions based on what you want, rather than being led by your fears or what other people want.

You’re tired of feeling anxious, depressed or angry.

Thea Psychology was created to help women struggling with these issues to feel better and to empower them towards a more balanced, self-confident and enjoyable life.  I know from the many women I have worked with - as well as from personal experience - what it is like to struggle and not feel like you’re in charge in your life.  Now, as a Clinical Psychologist, I know that there are psychological therapies that help and that things can change!

Therapy through Thea can help you with:

  • Self-esteem, self-worth and self-confidence
  • Anxiety
  • Depression and feeling sad
  • Anger
  • People pleasing and perfectionism
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Stress and burnout
  • Difficult family dynamics

If you would like to chat about the issues you’re facing and how I can help, I offer free, confidential, 20-minute introductory calls.  The introductory call gives us a chance to get to know each other so you can make a decision about whether to start therapy or not.  It’s important that whoever you begin therapy with is someone who feels right to you.

You can book your introductory call here: https://dr-hanne-warren.uk2.cliniko.com/bookings?business_id=1121499499324252429

Alternatively, you can contact me by email: letstalk@drhannewarren.com, or by submitting a message on my website: drhannewarren.com/contact.

If we begin therapy, we’ll agree on a regular time to meet online for 50-minute sessions, usually on a weekly basis.  In our sessions, we will come to an understanding of how your difficulties have come to be and how to take helpful steps to address them. We will work together to help you develop the tools you need to feel more confident and at ease in yourself.

Testimonials from women I have worked with:

"Having counselling with Hanne has transformed my life. She is so good at offering insight into what I’m going through and is always a huge help in encouraging me to reflect on a range of topics (in my case, self-esteem problems, break-ups, or friend and family issues). Throughout the months I’ve worked with her so far, I’ve always felt seen, encouraged, and understood. I can’t recommend her highly enough."

"I’ve had a great experience working with Dr Hanne. She was able to understand me and give me the necessary tools so that I could make a real change and improve my life. She was always very friendly and created a safe space where I could express all my feelings without fear. I deeply appreciate her help and her work and I highly recommend her to others."

"Absolutely love Dr Hanne, she's given me the confidence and the strength to move on with my life , I strongly recommend her"

"Talking with Dr Hanne Warren has been the best experience of therapy, despite it being a hard thing to enter into generally. She gave me a safe space to talk openly, giving a sense of familiarity and kindness that allowed me to be honest and feel 100% comfortable in our sessions. Approaching the sessions like a real human being while maintaining professionalism and boundaries is an art mastered, and allowed me to trust in the guidance and ultimately confront the issues I wanted to approach by going into it. Thank you!"

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy)
  • MSc in Psychology
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Reg. PYL34904).

I have worked in the field of mental health for over a decade, both privately and within clinical psychology in the NHS since 2014, including in senior and supervisory psychology positions and have extensive experience of helping people to move forward when they feel stuck, lost,  or in emotional pain.

I am trained and experienced in offering different forms of talking therapy which allow people to make sense of and address their difficulties. In my work I draw predominantly upon acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic and compassion-focussed (CFT) models of therapy.  That said, there is no one-size-fits-all method when it comes to therapy and my approach will always be unique to the person and what they need in that moment.

I obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at the Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU).  Prior to that I completed a combined Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology at the Universidad Siglo 21 in Cordoba, Argentina.

I have worked in a wide range of services in the NHS, including Improving Access to Psychological Services (IAPT), both working age and older adult community mental health teams (CMHT), child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and a community service for people with learning disability (CLDT).  I have extensive experience working in NHS older adult mental health services with a particular focus on dementia.

"I really enjoyed the sessions - you put me at ease and I was able to talk through a lot of things that were problems for me. I gained some good tools to use and also learnt not to be so hard on myself. I would definitely recommend you and if I ever need therapy in the future I will return."

"Thank you so much for your help and support over the last few months (year nearly?), it's been really difficult at times but you've helped me address some really unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and I feel that I've made some lasting changes"

"You have helped me through one of the most difficult and challenging periods of my life, but also allowed me to understand and accept the things that happened to me and enabled me to get into a much better frame of mind...  I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening to me, and enabling me to make a huge change for the better."

"Thank you very much for the sessions we had. It was incredibly helpful and I feel like it's made a huge difference to me."

"I feel like I have much more resilience than I had before. Much more calm, feeling much more level headed and less stressed. Whilst I now know there will be ups and downs, it doesn't feel like I wouldn't be able to cope with them... I feel like an enormous weight has been lifted. That itch seems to have gone; I feel truly content for the first time in my life.  I've had so many people say 'the value of therapy is right there - the fact you have the courage to go through this journey and the help the therapist has given you is undeniable'."
