About me

Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or lost?  Whatever you are experiencing I believe it takes a lot of courage to look within yourself and begin a process of self-discovery and healing. Developing a deeper understanding of your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions can be challenging or difficult at times but I am committed to supporting you in doing this.

I believe our past relationships and experiences impact how we relate, make sense of the world, and live our lives. I provide an empathetic, accepting, and open space for us to form a trusted and genuine relationship. This can allow you to find insight, connect to yourself more authentically, and move towards a greater sense of understanding and positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor working with individuals over the age of 18. I am a registered member of the professional body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work in line with their ethics and standards, ensuring my practice is safe and ethical for my clients.

We are all unique human beings and whatever issue or difficulty you are experiencing in your life our work together will be confidential and non-judgemental.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting and it is important you feel comfortable. I offer a free 20-30-minute consultation over the phone so you can ask any questions, see how I work and get a sense of who I am and if you want to work with me.

My sessions are 50 minutes and are normally offered weekly at the same time and day.  This may not always be possible so the frequency and length of sessions can be flexible in certain circumstances and we can discuss this during our first consultation.
