About me
Life is difficult - and this inconvenient truth inevitably runs contrary to our expectations and wishes. We may then struggle with the thoughts, emotions and behaviours this can create, whether it is a life event that has precipitated this (school or uni issues, bereavement, job loss, career choices, health issues, relationship/family problems) or a more general feeling of anxiety, depression, anger or low self-esteem - or a symptom or behaviour such as rumination, intrusive thoughts or avoidance. Together we will think through your issues and their causes and then consider how to modify the beliefs that underpin them, to help you process and let go of the unhealthy elements that are keeping you stuck. In turn, this will help you move forward with acceptance, resilience and new ways of coping that are more in line with the life you want to lead.
My aim - always - is to create a warm, compassionate space in which to work with my clients with understanding and humour, and I offer a free 15-minute phone session for us to talk and see if we are a good fit. As well as weekly sessions, I am happy to consider working bi-weekly with clients if this suits you better.
I enjoy working with all age groups and have experience through all the adult life stages (16+). I have also worked often with young adults (16-30) who are frequently busy grappling with the tricky business of moving from the teen years to adulthood, with all the pressures and uncertainties that can bring.
I work frequently with professionals dealing with issues such as imposter syndrome, stress, burnout, perfectionism and fear of failure. I also have experience working with many people in the creative industries who might present with issues such as performance anxiety, perfectionism, fear of rejection or failure - and equally sometimes - fear of success.
I am an integrative CBT/REBT counsellor, meaning that I use methods from different branches of CBT to help you. My main body of training is in REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy) which is one of the original branches of CBT, and has strong philosophical roots. I also have training in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which look at how evolution has shaped us and makes us react as we do – and can be an extremely useful way of starting to think about our emotions, thoughts and behaviours.
In my past life I was an editor and a copywriter and I have plenty of life experiences to draw on beyond that too, which I use to inform my practice. I work in North London (Tufnell Park / Kentish Town) and King's Cross, in person as well as online (or a combination of both).
I look forward to meeting you!

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
