About me
I specialise in working with individuals experiencing low self-esteem, to develop an improved understanding of yourself and others, so you can change how you think and feel about yourself, be more confident, less self-critical and feel more positive
Self-esteem refers to how we think and feel about ourselves, and the value we place on ourselves as a person. If we have a negative opinion of ourselves, feel we are less capable than others, or think we are not good enough, we may be experiencing low self-esteem.
You may judge yourself based on what other people think; you may feel like you are a disappointment or blame yourself for everything. You may feel like a failure, like nobody cares, frequently criticising and putting yourself down.
You may struggle to accept compliments, brushing these aside and minimising them as ‘no big deal’ and instead focussing on the mistakes you made. You may feel anxious, depressed, angry, and sad, sometimes all at once.
You can feel dissatisfied and unhappy, avoiding challenges and opportunities for fear of not being good enough. You may seek reassurance from others, or struggle to sleep, thoughts racing, feeling anxious and not knowing why, as though you are constantly on edge.
It is important to know that you are not alone. Low self-esteem is a common problem for many people.
My Approach
My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is based on the philosophy of requiring open-mindedness, patience, flexibility, empathy, and willingness to enter your world. You are your best asset, and I will work with you to help develop an improved understanding of yourself and others, enabling you to find your own solutions
I will engage with your reflections on the significance of what is happening in your life and enable your experiences to be expressed in their own terms, helping you make sense of your world.
We will identify the best course of action for you, and work toward improving your well-being, incorporating different techniques and ways of working from a range of theories, while promoting self-care and self-compassion.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
