About me
Are you feeling overwhelmed, lost, or struggling with life's challenges? I'm Ewan, a qualified counsellor here to support you in finding your way through the tough times. Whether you're in the vibrant heart of Edinburgh or prefer the comfort of Zoom or telephone sessions, or even if you're in the tranquil surroundings of West Lothian, I'm here to help.
Counselling is a personal journey to a better place, a space where you can freely express your worries, fears, and uncertainties without fear of judgment. It's a collaborative process where we can delve into the pain of loss, address the anxiety that holds you back, and navigate through the complexities of relationship issues that weigh you down. Whether you're dealing with stress from work, struggling with self-esteem, facing challenges in your personal life, or grappling with mental health issues like depression or anxiety, counselling can provide a safe haven to explore and address these concerns.
Imagine a life where you've regained control, where happiness is within reach, and peace resides within you. Counselling can be the first step towards making this vision a reality. It's about empowering you to gain deeper insights into yourself, make informed decisions that align with your true self, and move forward with a renewed sense of confidence and purpose. Whether you're looking to improve your communication skills, seeking guidance on life transitions, or aiming to develop healthier coping mechanisms, counselling offers a supportive environment to achieve your goals.
How does counselling address the specific challenges you're facing? Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to explore and address these challenges. Here's how it can help with some common issues:
Anxiety and Stress: Through counselling, you can learn stress management techniques and coping strategies to reduce anxiety. We can identify the root causes of your anxiety and develop personalised approaches to manage it effectively.
Depression: Counselling offers a supportive environment to talk about your feelings and experiences. It can help you understand the factors contributing to your depression and work on strategies to improve your mood and overall well-being.
Relationship Issues: Whether it's with a partner, family member, or friend, counselling can provide a neutral space to discuss relationship dynamics. You can work on improving communication, setting boundaries, and resolving conflicts.
Grief and Loss: Dealing with the loss of a loved one or significant change can be overwhelming. Counselling can help you navigate through the grieving process, express your emotions, and find ways to honor the memory of your loved one while moving forward.
Work-Related Stress: If your job is a source of stress, I can help you develop strategies to manage workplace pressures, improve time management, and seek a better work-life balance.
Self-Esteem and Confidence: Low self-esteem can impact many areas of your life. Counselling can help you build self-confidence by exploring the origins of your self-doubt and developing positive self-talk and affirmations.
Life Transitions: Whether it's a career change, retirement, or other significant life events, counselling can assist you in adjusting to new phases and finding meaning and purpose in these transitions.
Mental Health Issues: For those dealing with mental health conditions like bipolar disorder, OCD, or PTSD, counselling can provide emotional support and coping strategies.
Substance Abuse: If you're struggling with substance abuse, counselling can help you understand the underlying issues and work towards recovery, often in conjunction with other treatments.
Counselling is a personalised process, and the specific approach will depend on your unique situation and needs. We will identify the most effective strategies and techniques to address your challenges and support you on your journey to healing and growth.

Registered Member of the BACP
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
