About me

(she/her)

Sometimes life can be really challenging but you don't have to cope alone.

Whether you are feeling alone, going through a stressful situation, finding it hard to manage, wanting to make change in your life, trying to live with past trauma or simply don’t know how you feel - counselling can be a way for you to figure out what you need to thrive in your life.

I believe you hold the key to your own process and that no shoe fits all. I offer a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space for you to explore what you are going through, find coping strategies, work through feelings, and find understanding. As an integrative and relational counsellor, I work with you to identify your counselling needs and adapt my approach to them so we can find a way forward together. I draw from a core person-centred approach but use elements of Gestalt and psychodynamic practices so that we can use the present and the past to build on the awareness and understanding of your experience. Through our relationship, we can explore your needs and emotions and can identify, work through and create the changes you want to make for yourself.

I have experience in working with trauma-informed therapy, relationship issues, surviving rape, coping with past sexual abuse, living with loss and grief, depression, anxiety, self-image and self-esteem, exploring sexual and gender identity, loneliness, stress, parenting struggles, working with shame, suicidal feelings and self-harm.

I am a firm LGBT+ ally, a feminist looking for equality across gender, and I respect and value diversity in our communities. I believe in inclusivity and the power of understanding and acknowledging our own privileges in whatever form they take. My background in studying anthropology feeds into my understanding of how counselling is a way for us to explore how we work as human beings, how we work in relationships and how we survive trauma and learn to live well. I aim for counselling to be accessible to everyone from any background.

The COVID pandemic has meant we have all had to adjust and find new ways to cope and for many of us it has been a time of tremendous grief and anxiety. I offer a safe place for anyone looking to make sense of their feelings, or find ways to cope with the cards that life is dealing. I know how crucial it can be to feel heard and truly understood and how healing it can be to work through things with a professional.

What to expect

I offer a free 30 minute consultation where we can meet each other, explore what you are looking for from counselling, and you can ask any questions you have. If you feel comfortable and we feel we can work together. then we will arrange your first session.

If you are looking for short-term exploration, regular long-term support, or just want to check in with how you feel about your life right now, I could be the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
