About me

Life can be really difficult at times, whether this be at school, at home or at work. This can lead to feelings of overwhelm, low mood/depression, anxiety, panic attacks, feeling lost and generally low self esteem. Whether you’re a young person or an adult having someone to talk to in a confidential and understanding way might be the support you need.  I am a friendly, professional and qualified therapist working face to face, online or over the phone. If you feel this is what you need right now I will walk alongside you in a supportive, non-judgemental way without giving you advice; you know yourself better than anyone even if it doesn't feel like it right now.

Having been through some dark and lonely situations myself I understand the need for someone to talk things through confidentially and with empathy. I work with young people (13 years and over) and adults focusing on the person and their issues. This could also include building self awareness, looking at relationships, changing unhelpful behaviours, making choices, life events, looking into your past or exploring what's happening for you right now.  Whatever your need we can work together at your own pace.

I have worked for many years as a Secondary and Primary school teacher and I currently am a Level 2 CPCAB tutor.  I understand the pressure and demands of working in education and the impact it can have on oneself - physically and emotionally. Not only that, the demands of caring for loved ones no matter what age.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

After your enquiry I will email (please check your spam folder) or phone you to arrange a 20 minute initial assessment session for you to ask any questions, and for me to get to know you.  If you feel counselling is for you we make an appointment for you to attend further sessions either weekly or fortnightly at the same time on the same day each week/ fortnight.

The first session is a space for you to talk about your needs, concerns and what you hope to achieve from counselling.  It’s a way for us to build a working relationship which supports you.

All sessions are 50 minutes long.

It takes courage to seek support and is the first step in getting the support you need so please email me to enquire.
