About me

IN-PERSON SESSIONS AVAILABLE - (SUMMERTOWN AND AMBROSDEN)

Key experience: Anxiety / Relationships

While there can be a specific reason to seek therapy, it’s not always clear.  At any age we can find ourselves out of our depth, and/or in the midst of despair.

Perhaps you have got to a stage where you are wanting something to change, or you would like to feel differently.  Perhaps something has happened to you and that event plays on your mind.

It can be helpful to understand some of the ways in which you are behaving, particularly if relationships are challenging, or breaking down.

Maybe you simply don’t know what is going on, and you just need a safe, quiet space in which to contemplate what is happening.

There are so many situations that are naturally stressful and/or overwhelming, yet many of us feel that they should be manageable and dealt with alone.  This lack of sharing and self-reliance can lead to feelings of loneliness, resentment and often to an increased need for food, alcohol, working, spending or screen devices as a source of comfort and/or retreat.

If you feel ready to start therapy, your first step is to email me to arrange an initial consultation.  This appointment gives you the chance to find out whether I am someone you can comfortably talk to, and feel safe with.  It is helpful if you let me have a brief outline of what is troubling you, and what you are seeking from therapy.  I will confirm our arrangement in an e-mail.  We will then meet at my consulting room - a safe, comfortable (well-ventilated) space in which we can work together.  The setting is at all times private and confidential, as is all communication between us.  Then, if you decide you would like to proceed with therapy, we will fix a time to meet each week for 50 minutes.

I know beginning therapy might feel daunting, but it can be a relief knowing that your appointment is set up, and therapy is about to begin.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have undertaken a rigorous academic and clinical training at WPF Therapy - one of the most respected psychotherapy institutions in the UK.

I am a registered member of:

  • The Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
