About me

Thank you for finding me.

For a while now my days have been different shades of grey, some days have been black.  The colour seems to have disappeared overnight. I’ve been feeling lost. I used to be confident, funny, full of energy, sociable, and I used to like trying new things. Now, everything feels scary. I feel anxious, sad, lonely and I don’t have the energy to do the things I want to do.  Every day feels like a struggle at the moment but it’s been going on for a long time now.

Does this sound like you? I used to feel like this. I know you might feel alone at the moment but you’re not, I’ve got you. I understand and I can help you.

The good news is I can help you start to feel confident again, then you will feel happier, more sociable and start to enjoy the other things you’ve missed about yourself. I can also guarantee you will start to feel better and the things you thought were impossible you will start to feel can actually become possible. Impossible = I’m possible. Maybe you thought today isn’t going to be the day. Well, it is! You took the first step! I know that wasn’t easy and maybe even a bit uncomfortable but you did it! What is Counselling?  Counselling is a safe space where you can shut out all the white noise that is life and be silent or be listened to.  It’s a safe space where you can let go of everyone else’s opinions on who you are or should be and listen to yourself.  This will help you remember and start to recognise yourself again.  Counselling can help you realise your potential, remember your goals or dreams that you thought no longer existed.  I can’t tell you what counselling will be for you - that is something you will have to decide for yourself.  What I can tell you is, I can help you figure out your next steps.

You don't have to do it alone.  I work flexible days and times online (via Teams) and by telephone to make it easy for clients to access counselling. I also have a few face to face appointments. You decide how often you want to attend. Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as and when you want to attend. I welcome any questions you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I trained as a person centred therapist and qualified in January 2015. I then went on to study Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I use simple but effective techniques in my sessions (not worksheets).

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I was a little skeptical at having Counselling at first, but I am so glad I did it.  I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get the thoughts from out my head into words out of my mouth.  How wrong could I be. Once I started it just all flowed. Talking to Liz was so easy.  I never once felt judged or had opinions forced onto me.
