About me

Feeling lost, lonely and like no one really understands you?

I know how isolating it can feel when you're struggling:

  • You don't want to be a burden to friends & family.
  • You want to make changes but have no idea where to start.
  • You find it really difficult to be your true self around others.

Hi, I’m Ellie, an experienced person-centered counsellor.

I’ve been at that point in the journey myself, and therapy helped me to transform my life.

Since then, I lived in Spain for four years and grew vegetables, practiced yoga, created community and ran women’s circles.

I now hold a Masters degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and run my own private practice.

My approach is honed from my own personal experiences in therapy as well as my training. I have an enhanced certificate in introduction to EMDR, which is something we may be able to work into our sessions to help with trauma and trapped emotions.

Who I work with:

If you found me through Instagram, chances are you’ve seen my handle @readytodothework.

Why did I choose this name?

Because I love to work with clients who are at a point in their life where they are ready to make changes and delve deep.

Could this be you?

  • You know what your issues are and feel ready to work through them in a therapeutic environment.
  • You’ve read self help books, meditated & have tried all the “self-care” tips but none of it is really cutting the mustard.
  • You are committed to your healing journey and ready to make change.

What therapy could do for you:

Sometimes we just need a neutral sounding board in our lives: somewhere to offload safely where it’s not going to get back to anyone and we’re not going to be judged.

However, I’m not just a therapist who says “mm” and “yes” without fully engaging.

I see a limited number of clients per week to make sure I can give my full
authentic self to each person: I take time to fully listen and understand each person’s story, asking reflective and encouraging questions without ever telling you what to do.

Our relationship will develop over time to suit your needs - I adapt according to your feedback and how you tell me you like to be worked with, and if you are not sure what you need I will try my best to meet you where you are.

I am passionate about helping you find your own individual strengths to become a more independent, robust and confident person who knows how to help themselves.

"I'm a different person to when I came in and cried on you. I feel stronger, less raw. Like I'm able to compartmentalise things not just react and take everything personally. I really can’t thank you enough.”

How to get started:

I believe that the relationship in therapy is of great importance, so it is key that it feels like a good match for both of us to work together. For this reason I offer a FREE introductory call to see if we might gel.

I have availability both online and in person during the week.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Ellie x

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
