About me

Hi, I’m Ellie.

Are you emotionally aware, sensitive, and thoughtful?

Do you feel things deeply, need time to process, and often end up putting others first?

I see you.

Therapy is a place where you can slow down, speak freely, and be met with care rather than judgement.

I support clients with:

  • learning to speak up for themselves after years of emotional suppression
  • people pleasing
  • relationship difficulties (romantic, family, or friendships)
  • low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • grief and loss
  • trauma
  • identity questions and life transitions

I have had my own struggles with alcoholism, depression, and fraught relationships. I believe this first-hand experience helps me to further empathise with you. I am diagnosed with PMDD and identify as a highly sensitive person. I see myself as constantly on the journey of life, developing and growing.

I also know from my own experience of therapy how important it is to find the right fit.

I also know how life-changing, affirming and confidence-building therapy can be. Studies show that prioritising mental health directly elevates life satisfaction & longevity.

I will personally always invest in my mental heath as I know the impact on every other aspect of my life, and ultimately, my ability to feel safe within my own body.

This may be a good fit if you:

  • want to grow and start building the confidence to speak up for yourself
  • develop tools to regulate, feel and validate your emotions
  • want to explore yourself and your relationships in depth
  • are open to reflection, curiosity, and emotional honesty
  • value a relational, human approach to therapy
  • are willing to engage with gentle challenge as part of growth

This may not be right for you if you:

  • are looking for quick fixes or surface-level support
  • prefer a highly directive or purely solution-focused approach
  • don’t feel ready for self-exploration or emotional depth
  • are not open to being gently challenged or reflecting on patterns

Ways of Working

I offer:

  • Short-term therapy (6 sessions)
  • Long-term, open-ended therapy
  • Couples counselling
  • Clinical supervision for therapists
  • Community circles

Sessions are 55 minutes and include time to settle and close.

I work in person at Insightful Life and online.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Ellie x

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Msc Master of Science in Counselling & Psychotherapy - Keele University (Distinction)
  • Couples & Family Therapy Diploma - Centre of Excellence (Distinction)
  • Social Sciences & Counselling Skills Diploma - ARLT Foundation (1st)
  • BA (Hons) in English Literature & Linguistics - University of Manchester
  • EMDR Enhanced Introduction Course - The Therapy Quarters
  • Certificate in Supervision - Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy

My person-centered training helped me to set the foundation of deep listening as the cornerstone of good therapy. However, along the way I have picked up professionally developing skills such as EMDR, knowledge of CBT and relational techniques which is why I'd now describe myself as an integrative therapist.

Training as a Supervisor has also helped me to support fellow therapists and further expand my knowledge of working with clients.

Professionally, I have worked as a Psychotherapist for North Staffs Mind, Talk Listen Change, Sandbach High School and in my own private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am a therapist by profession but also by nature.

Always seeking to understand, expand and grow. I am curious about people and how different brains work.

Outside of my work as a therapist you will find me running community circles (featured on my website), walking outside in nature, cooking wholesome food, binge watching TV shows, reading about self improvement and probably trying something new.
