About me

Hello, I’m Dulcie. I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor, this means that I am trained in a range of modalities and adapt my approach to each individual I work with. At the heart of everything I do is the therapeutic relationship, creating a safe space for you to talk freely and explore whatever it is you feel you need to explore. This relationship is unique in that it allows you to be truly heard and accepted, without fear of judgement or bias.

My approach is very exploratory, we will move at your pace, exploring your inner and outer world. This will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself. Observing your individual patterns, processes, and emotions. Understanding where these patterns may have come from, how they may have developed over time and how they may be influencing your present. Ultimately, empowering and equipping you to tackle the current challenges in your life and make changes to positively impact your future.

Clients have described me as kind, genuine, warm and caring and share feeling comfortable and safe.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc Psychology
  • MSc Therapeutic Counselling

In addition to my qualifications, I am committed to continued professional development and regularly complete additional training.

Alongside my private practice, I work as the lead counsellor for a community mental health organisation. Consequently, I have experience working with a vast range of people with different backgrounds, experiences and needs. I have also previously worked with a leading cancer support charity and in suicide prevention.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I am currently offering both face to face sessions and remote counselling via telephone or video call.

Your first session is a time for you to share your needs for counselling, any goals you may have or understanding you would like to gain. I will go through the therapeutic contract, ensuring you know what to expect from our time together and ask any questions you may have. It’s also a time for us to get to know each other, for you to get a feel for the relationship and decide if it’s for you.
