MSc, CTA. Individual and Couples Psychotherapist (UKCP, MBACP)

About me

Are you feeling anxious, stressed, depressed or just unhappy? Sometimes these feelings are triggered by obvious causes, like a break up in a relationship, job loss or a bereavement, while at other times the underlying causes seem opaque, especially when life appears to be fulfilling and generally good. Counselling and therapy can help through providing a safe and supportive non-judgmental space to look into the possible sources of feelings, behavioural patterns and core beliefs that might be the underlying causes of distress.

My aim is to create an environment where you feel comfortable and safe. The work will be confidential and a collaborative process. I can help you talk about your feelings, and thoughts, and interpret your choices and patterns of behaviour, and I will equip you with some skills to help you deal with negative thoughts and feelings, so that you can make changes and move forward in your life.

I provide short term counselling or longer term psychotherapy depending on your needs. I offer counselling and psychotherapy service for adult individual clients (18+), and couples. For those unable to see me in person, online counselling is also available.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) and hold an MSc, and Post-Graduate Diplomas in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute.

I have completed an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and I am UKCP registered and also a registered member of the BACP and I abide by their ethical framework. I attend regular clinical supervision to support my work.

I provide counselling and psychotherapy in English and Arabic.

I also have a PhD in genetic epidemiology, and I spent more than twenty years in industry and academia working as a scientist. I have lived in different countries and I very interested in and understand cultural differences and issues related to identity.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
