About me
Are you feeling anxious, stressed, depressed or just unhappy? Sometimes these feelings are triggered by obvious causes, like a break up in a relationship, job loss or a bereavement, while at other times the underlying causes seem opaque, especially when life appears to be fulfilling and generally good. Counselling and therapy can help through providing a safe and supportive non-judgmental space to look into the possible sources of feelings, behavioural patterns and core beliefs that might be the underlying causes of distress.
My aim is to create an environment where you feel comfortable and safe. The work will be confidential and a collaborative process. I can help you talk about your feelings, and thoughts, and interpret your choices and patterns of behaviour, and I will equip you with some skills to help you deal with negative thoughts and feelings, so that you can make changes and move forward in your life.
I provide short term counselling or longer term psychotherapy depending on your needs. I offer counselling and psychotherapy service for adult individual clients (18+), and couples. For those unable to see me in person, online counselling is also available.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Certified Transactional Analyst CTA(P), and Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst PTSTA(P), I hold an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I am UKCP registered and I abide by their ethical framework. I attend regular clinical supervision to support my work.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy in English and Arabic.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I spent more than twenty years in industry and academia working as a scientist. I have lived in different countries and I very interested in and understand cultural differences and issues related to identity.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
