About me

I live in West Cumbria offering adults face to face counselling from venues in North and West Cumbria and the Allonby coast. I also offer sessions remotely, via Teams or Zoom, with concessionary rates for block booking.

I studied with the University of Cumbria and have worked with a range of client difficulties, including anxiety, depression, isolation and loss. My practice is rooted in the person-centred, with its offerings of unconditional acceptance, empathy and the genuine offering of the client-counsellor relationship. I sometimes dip into wider approaches if these feel helpful for a particular client.

We all find life difficult from time to time, whether it be sadness, loss, anxiety, loneliness or anything in between. Reaching out for support is the first step. This can feel scary – I’ve been there - but it can also be freeing. I offer you a supportive, confidential and listening experience, so that you can begin to unpack what’s troubling you in a safe space.

Get in touch via phone/text on 07453 374354 or email at copela18@gmail.com.  Remember to leave your own phone number if you want to arrange a quick call or set up a meeting.  Please also state your preferred meeting location e.g. Whitehaven as this is helpful when determining availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold membership with the BACP and have a Diploma in Counselling Psychotherapy.

I have a professional background in inclusive practice and neuro-diversity, such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attention Deficit and Autism.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
