About me

I am a qualified, Psychodynamic Counsellor. Working this way, means I will listen carefully to whatever you share with me, to how you understand your current and previous experiences, relationships, and family history and consider with you how these may shape your beliefs.

There are times when life can feel confusing, you may feel overwhelmed or stuck. Perhaps you have experienced anxious thoughts, change, loss, or relationship difficulties. Events such as these can be difficult to make sense of and leave you feeling unsettled. I can offer you a unique opportunity to explore concerns, challenges, or anxieties by providing a non-judgemental, confidential space where you can feel safe to express your thoughts and feelings and I will work with you to explore whatever arises.

Working together in this way can increase your confidence and self-esteem and help you to understand more about yourself. Through counselling, I can support you so that you feel less alone and more able to cope with the inevitable ups and downs in life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BACP Accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic (Psychotherapeutic) Counselling.

I have over 6 years of experience supporting adult clients, within a BACP accredited counselling service and private practice.

As a therapist, I have experience working with individuals with a range of difficulties, including low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, issues at work or in relationship, bereavement and past or present trauma. I offer open ended therapy, enabling you to go at a pace that suits you and to bring whatever feels important to you, to each session.

I have four years' experience working for a BACP accredited, counselling training organisation as a Skills Mentor and Personal Tutor, to students studying for a Certificate or Diploma qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

I have a certificate in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
